XCM has unveiled today the very first pictures of its XFPS 360 adapter for the Xbox 360 video game system. This cool device lets you connect a mouse and keyboard to your Xbox 360 via the USB port, in addition to an Xbox 360 controller and even a Sony DualShock controller.

As you may guess, this is not an authorized peripheral but definitely a much wanted adapter for those PC gamers that want to try Xbox 360 games but feel intimidated by a console controller.

PC Gamers will have the chance to play Shadowrun with both mouse and keyboard or the Xbox 360 controller; now, thanks to XCM, Xbox 360 gamers will have the same options.

Thanks Maxconsole.net for the heads up.

I can't understand how you will be able to manage the "mouse/keyboard configuration" with a device like this :???:

If it's a wirelessmouse/keyboard, you could just plug the signal reciever into the X-FPS and let it sit over by your console.
Yes but how can you correspond the buttons/trigers etc of the controler with buttons of your choise in your keyb/mouse.

I'm doubtful about how well this will work unless games have explicit support for it and expect a mouse.

When you code how a player moves on a console, you read how far the joystick is pressed (and the direction) and rotate the view at that rate, which is clearly capped. The value in a mouse for an FPS is there is no upper bound on the rate. The faster you move the mouse, the faster you turn or look up and down. You can rotate 180 degrees in a fraction of a second. If this device just emulates a controller using the mouse/keyb, it's probably not going to work well.

The only possibility for a true mouse-like advantage is if Microsoft left a lot of headroom in the communication protocol between the app and the controller, i.e. if the value read from the joystick is far from saturated even when pushing the joystick all the way. If a game is expecting a value (from the API) between -1 and +1 for the x-axis of the controller, is there any way to get a -100 in there?

I'm guessing noone remembers the same product for the Xbox and PS2, eh? :p

i.e. it wasn't a PC experience due to the reasons that Mintmaster mentioned.

Windows drivers? Why couldn't you have software on windows with different profiles for your games, plug it in with USB and switch profiles quickly. It's still a pretty ghetto solution though....good thing I don't care at all :D

I am guessing the extent of this devices function is just smart controller switch. I highly doubt it is sophisticated enough for a "true-mouse like advantage". I am guessing this thing works exactly like a KVM switch except for console controllers instead, and obviously without the V. So, more like a KM switch, if such a thing exists.
