WinXP SP2 Users - What version of 'explorer.exe' do you have?

Could I ask all Windows XP (32 bit) SP2 users with all hotfixes applied what version of 'explorer.exe' they have. You will find it in the root of your Windows directory (make sure you choose explorer.exe and not plain explorer). Right-click and choose properties and then note down what version it states on the Version tab and also the file-size and date of modification. For instance, I have:

Version: 6.0.2900.2649
Size: 1,032,192 bytes
Modified: 15 October 2005, 08:07:16

I'm asking as my friend has a different version (6.0.2900.2180) and yet we have exact same OS and same service packs and hotfixes applied. I'm wondering what is the most common version? Thanks in advance.

Ummm, this is worrying. Everyone I've talked to has 6.0.2900.2180. So why have I 6.0.2900.2649 ? I don't like the obvious answer....

What date is the last modified on your Exp vers? Also, what is the creation date on the file?

If you downloaded this patch, 884883, it updated your explorer.exe.

Contains:
comctl32.dll (5.82.2900.2649 - 07.04.2005)
comctl32.dll (6.0.2900.2649 - 07.04.2005)
explorer.exe (6.0.2900.2649 - 07.04.2005)

AFAIK, that update has never been pushed through automatic updates.

By the way, now we are discussing automatic updates...

Can someone explain to me why Mr. Microsoft still didn't put the update with WPA2 on auto update ?

It took me half a day to figure out why my Airport Express didn't want to work with Windows.

It looks like there are zillions hot fixes and patches out there on the Microsoft website most people don't even know about.
