Hi!

I can't justify spending more than about $150 for a video game system.

I don't mind if it's used, I don't mind if it's a little broken (but still plays games) I don't mind if it comes without controllers or games or memory cards or the like.

I don't mind if it's banned from online play for whatever reason.

Basically, I just want to play some of the new games, but because the rental centers don't rent game systems anymore, I guess I've got to buy one - and I really couldn't justify it for more than about $150.

So, is there any chance? Any source? What do you guys think?

Wow, awesome price!

But the FAQ says something about filling out surveys? I'm not going to get a deluge of spam, will I?

Anyway, I'll search around about this company before I order, since I don't give my credit card number out to just any website... But thanks for the link, maybe it will work out for me! :)

Actually, I just saw it today and didn't realize it meant you had to fill out surveys--sorry.

I think that EB games buys back Xbox360 for $140, so should be able to find one at the price you're looking for.

Searched around for info on that site, consensus seems to be that it's a scam, and there's definite confirmation that they're not actually verified by some of the security standards that they display the logos of... :(

No EB's anywhere near me, no luck there, darnit.

Where are you located? Depending on your location and value of your currency you may be able to import for about that. If you're out of luck there, I generally start looking on local message boards (eg overclockers.com.au for Australia) with a trade section. Usually people there tend to sell for about trade value.

Save for a bit? If you were considering a rental certain then you could certainly just put back what you'd consider a payment and then eventually spend that. Rental centers would have certainly cost you way more than the console itself in the long run.

I live in a fairly rural part of the southern United States. I was able to find an Xbox360 for $175 on Craigslist, but it was just out of my comfortable driving distance in my rubbish, unreliable car. Darn the luck.

As for saving up for it....I guess I just don't want it that much? I want a new system about $150 "bad." If I had $200, I would spend that on shoes, or two new shirts, or a good pair of trousers, or maybe a musical instrument or a repair of my turntable cartridge's stylus. $150 is how "much" I want a new system; the experience isn't worth more than that to me, if that makes sense?

Then why would you even consider something as expensive as renting? Not here to tell you how to spend your money, I just hope you realize that if you do get a console that you'll be spending well beyond $150 to get anything useful out of it. Even buying used games or renting them adds up quickly. I also hope you meant new shoes, 10 shirts, and pants under $200.

I don't know where you get the idea that renting is such an expensive proposition. In the USA, when I was younger, you could rent a console system for a week for $10-$15. But whereas consoles aren't rented here anymore, it's not an issue.

Maybe where you would say "rent," we would say "lease?"

I live in the US. $15 a week (conservative, very) x10 is already your $150. More than likely you would be paying $25 to $30 a week.

Oh well, finding a Xbox 360 for $150 won't be that hard either offline or online. You might find a Wii for that but very doubtful considering they're still in high demand.

I'd expect scam adverts on shady sites, but not B3D.

I don't know exactly what the deal is, but B3D does not negotiate its own ads for the most part. There's been talk before in the staff IRC on the matter, but the bottom line is remember that businesses that advertise here aren't vetted here - they were just willing to pay the price to advertise.

Incidentally I saw that ad myself earlier in the week and was like... "what, ~$35?" So yeah, it's unfortunate it's cycling through.

Leaving out the fact that even "back in the days" those rentals required at least $100 deposit, but normally twice what the cost of the unit was.

FWIW: I just sold my original 360 for $100 to a friend, so I would say look for someone that has a 360 that is looking to upgrade to one of the newer units, but for your price range I would say banned is your best bet (pains me to say that).

Never paid a deposit renting systems. Rental places had your CC # - if you broke the system, easy to charge you, same as a game. Thanks for replying, though.

I you can't afford to pay more than $150 for a console, how are you supposed to buy games?

Gaming is probably just not the appropriate hobby for you. Your time will be better spent elsewhere.
