WII U Hacked?

Of course Nintendo commented they believe the console's systems that block pirated games currently remain secure.

Not that I'd take their word for it, but I also wouldn't directly believe the hacker group until more information is presented.

One can't help but think, "Why bother?"! although is piracy is enabled on the console, it'll be the easiest current-gen device to get free games on, so that might increase hardware adoption. But I also imagine that'd be the final nail in the 3rd party support coffin. The understanding that your game could be freely pirated on a platform with few users and little software uptake has to lead to an avoidance of the platform. But more than that, it'll be more reason for future Nintendo hardware to be avoided. Nintendo's security is diabolical, and they aren't learning and improving. Sony went from open-house PS1 to pretty darned solid PS3 in three generations. Nintendo have been at this game longer than anyone else and haven't produced a secure platform yet.

Gamecube's reverse-written miniDVDs were tricky AFAIK.

Wii security was just ripped apart. You could even play online with a modified console.

or the hack has successfully fooled Nintendo. THats why they did not detect it as pirated. THey detect it as original game.

Did it matter though? Online play wasn't that big of a component compared to the PS3/360.

online-play also working fine on pirated xbox 360 and ps3 games. Sony also seems fine with that. They ban no-one.
But they ban those that cheat heavily using hacked PS3. Although i dont know the details, they ban console ID or gamertag (what was it called on PS3?).

i think its already like that since 2012. Both MS and Sony did nothing.

That's not true. MS bans the console, not the user account. MS has had several waves of console bans. The current custom XB360 DVD firmware have better protection against being detected, but it provides for an annoying experience if you're truly trying to play online.

MS has both console bans and user bans [which are rare].

Sony is also banning CFW users, mostly those who visit popular games [COD for example] and anyone who play unreleased games [leaked ISOs]. However if you are careful and focus your gaming on older titles, you can stay unbanned.

i mean they ban no one just like nintendo's statement that they dont detect the pirated games.

but the ban on XBox 360 is kind of confusing. If your Xbox 360 system detect the game are pirated, MS will ban. But if the detection is being done by the game itself, MS did not ban.

its was a hot topic on many (indonesia) gaming forum and pirated game sellers starts promoting themselves that they have the best version, the correct version, etc.
