Why the PS3 framebuffer only scales horizontally

The whole Framework MT issue is a bit confusing to be honest. I've seen it tear playback of a 30fps WMV file which indicates that it's something unrelated to the processing of actually rendering.

Also curious is that in my tests I've found instances of tearing at 720p rendering which did not tear in the same sequence running at 1080p.

This is not to say that the engine has "issues" with tearing when scaling, but it suggests that its performance is rather odd. Until more analysis is done and more results put into context, I'm sure that Framework MT performance can be used to make any kind of generalisation about Xenos performance.
