Who likes classical music?

I like Mozart's work more than Bach's or Beethoven's. :)
I don't know why, it just rules.

The music is very stimulating (in a non-sexual way). Loads of different beats and variations in them. I found myself nodding my head without even knowing it. After a while I noticed it but at first I had no idea I was doing that.

So what do you guys like?

I love to get into classical now and then, especially on long drives through the night it's very soothing and I don't have troubles staying awake whilst driving long trips so I don't mind it. I tend to enjoy Mozarts work more as well, though I hardly qualify as a afficianado.

atm all I seem to listen to is Dream Theater as they encompass the various styles I enjoy the most all into one band and considering the vast array of msuci they have released, it doesn't get too repetative.

not one for classical but i do love dream thearter . Esp metroplis 2 : scenes from a memory . Its a great cd where u actually have to figure out who did the murder. Great music.

Sitting here at a summer classical music festival. Where my dad now works and where I sorta work. Not a bad gig, lemme tell you.

I prefer playing more than I do listening.

Of course, I really haven't played in a band/orchestra in years...

sigh.

Ditto. Nothing like running round behind a set of timps at the Albert Hall.

MuFu.

Hi there,

I prefer "new music," personally. Hence I have a lot of Pärt (especially from his first, dodecaphonic period), Orff (late period), Scelsi, Kurtág, Ligeti, Zimmermann and Berio.

I hardly ever listen to music from the "true" classical period. If I do, it's mainly Vivaldi and early Beethoven. I'm quite fond of baroque music, Bach especially, and early music in general, mind.

Being pedantic, while Mozart is from the "classical" period, I believe that Bach is "Baroque" and Beethoven "Romantic". (I was intrigued how the various music matched the architectural styles of the periods)

Anyway, I have a few of Mozart's symphonies on CD, but possibly listen to Vivaldi, Handel, and Bach more often.

Beethoven was right at the end of the classical period, his early works were classical but his later works were pushing conventions and were some of the early romantic pieces.

I like a wide variety of music. There are a number of classical tunes I like. I play the guitar( well I used to ... a lot.) and had a number of classics memorized. Ironically that was the high point of my guitar playing it began to feel too much like work. There are a lot of heavy metal guitar players that have some real talent Steve Vai is my fav though. Anyhow when it comes to music I have no favorite class of music or band. If I like it I like it and it could be anything from classical music to heavy metal.
