What's a comfortable Temperature?

But it certainly would help if those weird brits didn't build houses with cardboard walls, hilariously drafty doors, cheap wooden window frames and single glazing (WTF?? Does time slow down when you're driving on the left side of the road? Which century is that again?), and at the same time charge a rent as if you were living in a royal palace.

Come to Australia - we even drive on the right(left) side of the road but the effect is x10. I had a few German's living with me over the last few years - they were doing phd's at the adf. They were quite polite but would say - "No offense but these houses suck balls!" or words to that effect. I put it down to the relatively cheaper energy here and a build for the moment mentality + the fact most of australia is located on the relatively temperate coast. Don't know if that applies in UK though.
