What engine does FFXI uses?

Just wondering, is a totally new engine or FFX engine?

I think they have used a totally new engine, because the FFX engine is optimised for offline play, and NOT for online play
I could be wrong though...

I believe all new. Basing a MMORPG engine off a console RPG base would be a foolish way to start, considering the much more unique needs it will, uh... need. Hehe.
