Here are my Specs, and im looking for some advice as to a relativly cheap and easy way to improve on my system, i dont have that much $$ to throw around but i have some:

AMD 2000+ ~1.7Ghz
256 RAM
GeForce 4 MX440

Best and cheapest upgrade, 9700np and 256MB more ram.
If the 9700np is still to much for you then get a 9600pro (about $140 now) and the ram

All depends on what your planning on using your system for. do you game much? are your big apps loading too slow? what current limitations are you having, that you can notice? How much of a budget do you have? Remember spending a bit more now will save you money later. ;)

later,

Im actually a little limited in what i can do.
Its all down to the motherboard, admittadly i got a little ripped off, it only runs a 2x so most of the goodies dont work.
it takes SDRAM and the best i can do in the ATI range is a 9200, or a FX5200 with nvidia...a now board is out of the question for now but are these actually the bast available that is 2x compatible?

well all x4 cards are x2 compatable but your board must be a x4 board as they did not make x2 boards that support athlon xps.

Are you sure about that?
im looking at my SiSandra software now and here is what it says regarding this:
Front Side Bus Speed: 2x 133Mhz (266Mhz Data rate).
if you are sure could you please perhaps provide link sto where i can verify this? because it will play a large factor in what card i can get.
Thanks

sandra is saying that your system bus is ddr there, look at your agp bus information for the agp transfer rate.

ok.
Im now looking at the PCI, AGP card bus information in sandra. (bear with me, im not that knowlegable.. ;) )

The only thing that really grabs my attention is the part where it says:
Data Tranfer Modes Supported: 1x 2x 4x .
am i to assume that this means that the board can run at 4x and thus support graphics cards that require 4x-8x boards?
