Read somewhere that Microsoft and Wallmart made a deal and that it was possible to try the console in their shops. So, who went and triedt it ? Time for a report :)

I just recently posted this on TeamXbox forums:

Hey, I know there is a Merged Thread on 360 Kiosks, but it's 43 pages!

Plus, I just want to warn all to not have such high hopes and expect revolutionary graphics.

At my local Walmart I noticed an Xbox360 kiosk(surprise) and I was so psyched. So I stand in line for my turn while people play King Kong, I notice the graphics, and I'm not impressed even though I am use to playing games on my 5 year old comp...

So then comes my turn and I fiddle around with King Kong. I'm on a boss(?) level fighting 2 T-rex's and it seems mediocre, but I do like the cinematic gameply experience, and the lady's (who I am trying to save) scream is just so friggin annoying! I also notice a passerby comment on how NOT impressive the Next GEN system is and I agreed.

Next I played Kameo, and was very eager to see in-game visuals because it is arguably the best looking Xbox360 game there is in the launch window. Kameo is... interesting for lack of a better word. I didn't play long enough to really get the gameplay mechanics, and I was just looking at the world and it's graphics. The models for many things just seemed out of place. I'm not tech savvy enough to really explain in detail, but I think it looked a lot like Doom 3's models (2d looking). Another thing I noticed was all the jaggies... Oh! The jaggies! You would think 4xAA and 720P would remove most of the Aliasing, but it seems to have gotten worst compared to the latest Xbox games (Conker).

Last I played was CoD2. After the Kameo disappointment I was looking forward to amazing graphics that I had seen footage of... but was let down. The colors seem to be washed out, the hand and gun model looked 2D, and I also noticed Aliasing. So I forget the graphics and go onto the game(hey it's CoD2) but it turns out I can't play FPS on consoles for jack s***.

To me the controller was different. I like the Controller S more, because the back of the new controller's mid section was a bit too thin for my taste and I had to get use to the different layout. (shoulder buttons, start, etc.)

All in all, I'm not ready to spend $300 or worst $400 on a console that just seems to have disappointed me so much. I'm much more willing to wait a year or 2 to obtain a 360.

Thank you all for your time.

P.S.: I'm very much looking forward to see how later 360 games fare.

I just read that the Walmart employees may not have correctly connected the HDTV wiring and that the resolution may be 480i.

I have read that as well, in many places

or set the X360 to output at the proper resolution for the display

That's surprising given every single X360 Walmart display box says "Hold for Microsoft Rep".

I figured that Rep would in-turn setup everything correctly...
