2.10 is out, with stuff like
- folders (with titles), hold 10 icons each
- saving your folder, icon etc. layout to memorycard,
- email app update with html support,
- more support for buttons everywhere,
- some video formats can be played straight from the browser (though I haven't seen that last bit work yet, but it should support at least youtube, dailymotion)
- an icon in the top right corner showing what gamecart you've got in your Vita,
- automatic updates for PS Mobile titles,
- option to mute automatically when your headphones are plugged out and pause the music

Yeah, after living with the update for a little while, the folders, however basic a change, are still really cool. Also happy now that the Email app is really useful, basically showing you emails like you're used to. Apparently you're still limited to 100 icons in total or something like that though, whether you use groups or not. Maybe something for a future update. ;)

Cool update. I'm waiting until E3 to get my replacement Vita.
You suspect they'll release an updated unit?

Be cool if they did... I've been interested in the vita ever since the PS4 unveil, but been wary to run out and buy one in case sony's been planning to refresh it. :p

I'm planning to get a Vita, sadly the white version has not been released in Europe yet  and the game library is not too appealing. I'll wait for E3, hopefully they'll announce something to revive Vita, probably a pricecut + AAA exclusive games. If not, Vita is pretty much dead.

Not really. I bought a car, and just paid a lot of tax $$$ to Uncle Sam. [cover face and weep]

Waiting for the depression to subside. E3 should be good. I tend to forget everything rather quickly.

EDIT: Ah, I also bought an Arduino kit to play with. It's a very cool toy !

It's not dead to me though ... there's cool new stuff almost weekly. It's a great platform, and I use it about as much as my iPad 3.

That said, I'm sure we'll see some more stuff come E3. I wouldn't expect a redesign soon though, unless they decide to include TV out or something like that after all.

It's more likely functionality will roll out in the form of further Firmware updates.

But it needs some sales to boost third party support, right now is going to be hard to convince big studios to take the risk and develop a AAA game for the Vita. And they need that support to get more people buying a Vita, right now is a vicious circle.

Maybe so, but sales of NFS and Assassin's Creed Liberation were high enough to show that the market is already there even at the current low sales.

Biggest issue right now is Japan, and for the rest of the market, even more games, cheaper hardware (especially memory cards has some room for improvement) and universal PS4 remote play support will certainly help, I think.

PS Mobile is getting better too - just waiting for that to release here now, hope I don't have to wait forever!

I think PS4 will be a big pull for the vita. It'll be wuu done right, except you won't find a vita in every PS4 box... :p

(Sarcasm?)

...Only if you consider a vita a suitable replacement for a PC (laptop, I presume.)

Firmware 2.11 is out, fixing some bugs. Some people had some slowdown (in the UI) and freezing issues, and they are fixed now (as reported by Neogaf). For me personally, I couldn't view any youtube movies from youtube.com from within the browser, but that works great now, HD and everything.

Saving icon layout to memory-card, sounds great.
It's probably the number one issue people who have multiple memory-cards had.
No more mess after swapping cards. :)

Yeah, should be a nice help. I rarely swap and should probably sell my 16GB memcard though I'm thinking I might stuff it with movies for on the plane. While I am typing this, I am getting the impression that somewhere in the last update the keyboard has been hugely improved as I now rarely make errors. The speed of the word suggestions is also much faster ...

I'm still looking for a bigger memory card. My 8 GB is getting long in the tooth... not that it doesn't work... it just doesn't belong in the generation that Vita exists :)

It's not just for swapping cards. If you dropped your Vita, the memcard may get jotted out of position for a brief moment. Your wallpaper settings and icon positions would be gone. Happened to me twice. Glad that they fixed it.
