Video capturing software

I want to make videos from WoW, particularly PVP ones, yet I don't have any experience with any sort of video capturing whatsoever. Nor do I know how to edit it to add music and such. How would the video inept such as me start their journey into capturing? Whats a good, or maybe the standard, software used for doing so?

Thanks-

FRAPS will cause your FPS to go DOWN, way way way way way down while recording a movie. I'm talking in the area of around 20~25FPS. Even in a game where high FPS (75+) is common, such as WoW.

It works though, and it outputs to a uncompressed AVI so the quality is what you want to make it.

FYI, Fraps does not save uncompressed RGB in AVI, it has its own format (fourcc: fps1) which is slightly compressed.
