Uncharted 4 discussion [PS4] (read first post) [2016]

I mean fighting (with the normal rules) in a sinking cruise ship or a harbor environment moving under strong wind and waves. Really sweet stuff.

By the way, this game did solve several of such inconsistencies as well I think - for instance the game suggests taking out a wall or a certain enemy vehicle with certain explosives but regular grenades also work led just fine. That was pleasantly (un)surprising.

Also a nice touch is that when replaying a level you can actually choose to only play the confrontations in them, so get right into the action. I am sure that solves some complaints!

Okay. Aren't those in there? There are a few crumbly traversals in the first 8 chapters of UC4 that I vaguely recall. I guess the set pieces are small from what people are saying here.

Uncharted 3 has not aged well. Seeing it really puts into perspective how much better this gen is, despite the fact that it's a pretty weak generation hardware-wise.

The animation in Uncharted 4 is also way better from what I've seen, just in terms of being way more restrained. In Uncharted 3 Drake stumbles and waves his arms around way too much.

I liked this part a lot for instance

You really feel the shifting (relative) gravity
I wasnt expecting to see Uncharted 3 and think how ugly it is. But thats what happens after you play a game so well crafted as Uncharted 4.

I disagree it hasn't aged well actually, but yes, Uncharted 4 does show how much more powerful current generation is. PS4 compared to PS3 is a factor 8-16x depending on what component you compare. It's just silly to compare it to huge PCs.

The last fight with various bonus modifications (no gravity, cel shaded, helium audio, no hud)

Surprised by how well all this blends together, even the bonus modes are polished

A review from a movie reviewer (and longtime Uncharted fan)

We agree on 4>2>3>1 :yep2:

I had those as well. To be a bit more specific: both voices and sound fx were regularly missing during cut-scenes. Luckily I didn't have these issues during my first run through the game.

As for the game itself: I found it decidedly "meh". A drop dead gorgeous slog through endless arrays of increasingly ridiculous traversal sequences (Tomb Raider seemed downright believable in comparison), mediocre shooty/stealthy bits and box puzzles which almost managed to make the wooden planks from TLoU look clever. I also thought the more serious tone didn't do the game any favors. The fact that Nate and the gang could pull all these ridiculous stunts on a regular basis didn't bother me in Uncharted 2 because it didn't really bother Uncharted 2 either. This just isn't the case in grown-up, head-up-its-own-ass Uncharted 4.

Things like the chateau, sinking ship, ship graveyard and falling from the plane...U3 is set-peice heaven really...nothing for U4 (up to Chapter 14) comes close...but man this game is great, loving the amount of enemies and how hidden they are compared to last gen.

Can't wait to see what ND do with LoU2 - also, Sam mentioned 'what next? space?' or something like that - I recall the rumours a couple years back - I wonder if this is a poke of fun or a hint (like they did with U3 to LoU with the newspaper)

That is actually less than a week from release
Includes worldwide sell-through data for both Blu-ray Disc sell-thru quantities and digital sales as of May 16, 2016.

Very impressive, and deserved as well. One of the very best games of this generation (my personal favorite alongside Bloodborne and Witcher 3).

Where does it sit compared to other exclusives? Also, the pressure will be one to make another (just look at Halo).
I dont want to see another sequel. Great games lose their mark after they get a shitload of sequels. What was going to be remembered as a legend is forgotten as a tired, far stretched mediocre series.
I hope they leave it as it is now and focus their energy on another great game.

Halo is not what it used to be anymore and I dont want to see the same with Uncharted.

Yeah, imo Uncharted is done.

ND should do something new. I am not even sure about a TLoU2...is not needed imo.

But, I would like to have something with serious tone again. Maybe team up with RAD and do a The Order restart  (yeah, I do love the lore and universe of The Order...so sad we probably never see a sequel)
