Uncharted 3

Did they? I haven't really read any news sites so I could easily missed that.
Nevertheless, with the kind of content they're pushing it's probably more like KZ3 - reduced resolution and geometry LOD for the stereo version.

I've grabbed the cyan-red glasses from our compositors and checked it - almost nothing there. Then I've checked an Avatar trailer with the same option and there was a lot of depth. So it's the video that's not good enough, dunno how much it has to do with conversion.

No, you just haven't found the 'swap colors' option in Youtube yet. ;) It's under the 3D menu, and you need it for about 50% of all 3D videos ... Whenever you're not seeing depth, swap colors and presto.

I did notice that there is little point for making this full-screen, at least for me, because the separation is too large for that - keeping it in the normal browser screen worked much better.

And for what its worth, yeah they showed it in 3D at GDC and also discussed how they started working on Uncharted 3 with 3D in mind straight away, and apparently it shows (quite a few good impressions from podcasts)

So the cross eye methode creates 3 movies and the middle one had a little bit of depth. Did i do it right?

More or less, that's the main idea. The depth in the middle image will vary depending on the distance between the two cameras (difference between both images).

A good example of 3d video without glasses (in which you can use the cross eye method) is this one (dumb content, but a good option to showcase the effect ):

Make sure you have selected the right 3d option ("Cross-eyed"). If you don't see this option in the menu, you must click on "Other option" and "View video with no 3d device".

If you see the video, you will notice a good sense of depth, which I fail to see in U3 "3D" trailer...

And Judy Dench. With almost Jason Statham.

(seriously, does every bald man with a british accent have to be Jason Statham? everyone thought he gave the voice over for our sniper, too - okay, some thought he was Simon Pegg, but anyway)

I've linked to this presentation so many times, but still looks like I should simply bookmark it ;)

I can't open the file on my Mac. Found the online version:
http://www.slideshare.net/ozlael/hable-john-uncharted2-hdr-lighting

Fascinating read. Very long and informative. Includes tips on SPU optimization too. Highly recommended although I can't grasp everything. Can't interpret some of the examples without speaker's note or audio.

How could you tell proper filmic tonemapping was applied ? To my eyes, the colors seem subdued or "faded" although a tad natural. Perhaps like movie but that's cheating since I read the slides. ^_^

It looks like an ingame cutscene with MLAA and not touched up lighting. The human faces looked incredible!
Most of them do, but that woman face looks to me like it just reached the uncanny valley. Something is just not right with her face.
I can't remember which B-movie movie this reminds me of, but it involved a human face with too much cheap make up that seemed like it's melting.

Probably the villain of a Walt Disney Picture? ;) By the way I think it's too early to judge how will be...

The deformations on the facial expressions are what's probably disturbing you. Most likely they haven't spent enough time on the bone weightings and the animation, but it'll probably get a lot better for the final game - it was probably a marketing driven decision to reveal the villain at this time.

I like the character in general, by the way, and wonder when Jason Statham is going to sue everyone using bald tough guys with a british accent ;)

I don't know, was "planet terror" (or any of the movies it "borrows" from) a Disney picture?

It probably has to do with what Laa-Yosh said. Seems like the face is just still not properly attached to the skull, hence that "molten" vibe that I got from her facial animation.

They can always claim she botoxed up of course ...

They have like 50 bones in the faces, takes a while to get the weighting right. That's why I never liked using bones for facial animation, it's very indirect, even if the upside is some re-usability between characters.

Even body mocap is heavily edited, they have some reasonably advanced tools to do that.
And many of the moves performed by Drake are quite obviously impossible in real life anyway :)

I was only talking about the cutscenes, thought they had the least amount of editing going on there or do they heavily edit those as well?
