I gotta say that you guys are really missing out on an awesome game that was first started by Gauntlet = LOTR: ROTK.

Seriously, I've got Halo, Halo 2, DOA3, and I play ROTK more than them.

Halo, this game saved gaming for me. It's the only game this gen that I've finished and I bought a ton of games.

Thats the funniest part for me. When I bought my Xbox, I bought Halo. But I couldn't get a smooth hang of the controls (FPS). That didn't stop me from buying Halo2, though.

DOA3, ROTK, Jade Empire, the third-person fighting games, those I really got into.

I don't think my gaming experience this generation is vast enough to have a Top 10, but my top experiences, in no particular order, since 1999 have been:

Ico
Kingdom Hearts
Stretch Panic (i dont think anyone played this game apart from me and 3 guys in japan)
Guilty Gear X2 (or whatever it was)
Burnout2

Well my own picks are basically flavored by playing nowhere near enough single-player on the Xbox (and very little multi-player either, since we're usually leaning Cube-wise or LANning), but what canya do?

(best action game) Resident Evil 4 & Devil May Cry 3 [They go notably different directions, but I don't want to break down categories forever.]
(best platformer) Sly Cooper series
(ushered in era of interactive worlds) Can't answer this for consoles -- I play too many MMO's
(best racer) Burnout 3
(best stealth/action) Tempted to say Sly Cooper again -- WISH I could say Deus Ex (no, not IW), so... MGS series
(best extreme sports) As I give not a rat's ass... Closes I come is Jet Set Radio
(best adventure game) ICO
(best action RPG) Eternal Darkness
(addictive online RPG) Again, too much PC MMO-ing
(addictive emergent gameplay)Doot... doot... DOOT! Doo-doo-DOO-doo-doot! [In other words, Katamari Damacy. Or Super Monkey Ball, for that matter.]

(best fighting game) Soul Calibur [Some may look better or play a BIT better, but no others had the same impact this gen.]
(best music game) DDR Extreme and/or Rez [they're notably different styles, but not worth giving their own categories]
(best puzzle game) Super Monkey Ball series
(best "alternate controller" game) Resident Evil: Dead Aim
(best party game) Power Stone 2 [no, I don't really consider games like these and SSMB "fighting games"] or Wario Ware, if you're wanting a more convential answer.
(best simulation [excluding racers] ) Armored Core series
(best game with "strategy" involved ) Disgaea


And of course... the best fishing game would have to go to Sega Bass Fishing! (But only if you use the controller )
