Can't tell if THQ CEO is complaining about not getting enough dev. kits or he thinks Sony hasn't told them enough about the Cell.

So they are not releasing Sopranos this fall for the PS3 but only for PS2 and X360.

Activision, which says they don't have problems with their dev. kit allocation, says the first games will only use about 20% of the Cell. Seems like some other developers are aiming higher (depending on how you measure using 20% of the Cell's capacity).

In any event, it sounds like we shouldn't expect too much out of PS3 games from THQ or Activision for awhile at least. IIRC, these companies were also out in front about pushing prices to $60 too.

I found this very interesting:

``With ongoing strong games sales, we believe the Xbox segment could become profitable in calendar 2007,'' wrote Goldman, Sachs & Co. analyst Rick Sherlund in a research note yesterday. Microsoft, the world's biggest software maker, may cut the price of Xbox 360, which sells for as much as $399, by $100 in the next year to press its advantage, Sherlund wrote."

What are the chances this will happen around E3 2007? probably close to when the big hitter for the PS3 start coming out? A $299 premium package would be in high demand.

I wouldnt be worried about reports like these, its just pulling back the covers on stuff that happens leading up to every new console's release. THQ is a publicly held company so it could just be posturing on their part.

The bigger this industry gets the more we'll hear about stuff like this whereas we didnt previous because honestly, no one cared. :)

Maybe

A $299 Premuim pack would just crush anything Sony could put out there PS3 wise. Besides in Japan of course.

Or it may lose even more sales like $99 GameCube. MS must be very careful because PS3 will be sold out and MS should not try to drop price and shortage also.
