The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

I think the LOD in the retail build is due to weather such as fog and TOD, foliage do look to be rendered at half res as the original but the latter having a sharpen filter does not help the comparison either. I'm ok with the tradeoff for the PS4 version to get to 1080p tho since the latest footage already looked good enough.

I also blame the Nvidia marketing deal, I bet they had to tone down the foliage and other things in order to cater for the processing intensive Hairworks. In an open world game such as this, I'd rather have denser, higher res foliage, effects and FOV than the occasional fancy hair strands that bogs everything down.

I don't blame Nvidia because none of their proprietary tech will be in the console versions. However foliage is one of the things which has, frankly, astonished me on the console footage seen so far. I'm so used to foliage, particularly the density, dialled back on consoles but that PlayStation Poland video where Gerald wanders into the dense forest really surprised me.

But I agree on the principle, I would prefer graphics budget expended on the environment rather than something like hair, that for me is a trivial detail. Having said that I recall when Core Design were introducing Tomb Raider 2 and I was very excited by Lara's swinging ponytail. I think I've now been gaming long enough to know what type of 'improvements' matter to me and hair really doesn't. It just has to be good enough and the console hair looks fine.

I had pre-ordered on disc with Amazon but found out yesterday it's only (only!) a 31Gb install so I cancelled that and pre-ordered a digital download on PSN instead. But if I change my mind I can cancel right up to the day before it unlocks.
Having previously cancelled Amazon pre-order and decided on a digital purchase, I just cancelled the digital pre-order and re-pre-ordered from Amazon. I want the manual, map and audio soundtrack that comes in the retail boxes.

You know there is a Witcher 3 thread in the PC Games forum, right? This is where you post the 'boo hoo PC versions doesn't look the same' crap. This thread, as evidenced by the title, is for PS4 and Xbox One chatter - both versions look great.

I'm sorry your version doesn't look how you thought it would but this is not the the thread to cry about the PC version.

Don't blame him. He probably didn't find the PC forums link.

And I will purchase only PS4 version, which sadly does not look not nearly as good as what was promised initially. PC Ultra interests me very little since it is obvious by reports that Ultra introduces only few Nvidia effects. LODs and foliage quality is the same between V.High [console spec] and Ultra on PC. CDPRed said that LOD distances are baked into objects, and that there there is no simple console command that can expand those distances.

I am sad that console versions suffered a lot and that nobody will get to play what was promissed before. Thankfully, game overall still looks good.

All of the images you posted were from the PC version. If you are really disappointed that the console versions don't look like the 2013 VGX trailer (PC) or recent PC quality (all 'Ultra' settings on PCs with GF 980s) then have you very unrealistic expectations of a console that costs around the same as a decent mid-range graphics card, i.e. not a 980. There is a 26 page (and counting) GAF thread that may interest you, though.

First non official Xbox One footage. The video is very low quality, but anyways. http://www.gameondaily.com/the-witcher-3-xbox-one-footage-crow/

The PS4 footage hasn't been particularly high quality either, not enough to gauge AF or get a feel how good the texture work is up close But you can see both console versions retain that huge open world with dense detail and long draw distances. Frame rates look good too. I don't know what more you can expect on console :nope:

17mb GIF showing the scale of the game. On a console  http://i.imgur.com/G2kWij9.gif

I like what I'm seeing so far, just need a proper high bitrate feed to gauge the PS4 version a bit more regarding the AF, AA and texture res. But yeah it does look like a decent step up from DA:I but I'm more thrilled to imagine the prospect of their next game when their first current gen console game looks this good already:).

15mb GIF. http://i.imgur.com/F04EaQ9.gif with appearing trees.

Camera object occlusion looks a little mental. It also prevents my preferred strategy of running round and round a tree until the enemy gets dizzy and falls over.

Yeah, I can myself having the same "problem" with the Witcher 3 as I did with GTA V on PS4. That is I often didn't get a lot accomplished because I was just gaping at stuff mostly due the the awesome time of day and weather system. The Witcher 3 will probably be "worse" because the countryside is beautiful and even more encouragingly, we're only seeing the tutorial area, White Orchard, which is supposedly the least interesting and pictureqsue area of the game! :runaway:

Spoilered .gifs still download! 80 MBs just to view a thread is asking too much. As per the FAQ, please don't embed anything but the tiddliest of gifs for reference.

Really? They don't seem to in Safari or Chrome.
edit: ah, I can see you removed them and replaced them with links scuppering my test! :yep2:

That's why I think it will take me about 6 months to finish 1st play-through game even when playing at least 10h a week (a bit optimistic target for me)!
2 days for reviews to appear! This at least will help the waiting for release to go a bit quicker :)

Keep the posts coming guys as this is best thread for me to follow even though I will be playing on PC. What's important is that overlay experience will be very similar / the same on all platforms, bar resolution and some eye-candy I can squeeze from my rig.
