The Order: 1886

Haven't played much (making breakfast at the moment), one thing is for sure, the image quality and graphics are truly on another level. Sometimes I forget this is actually running on a PS4, not my high-end PCs. The gameplay so far is fair... brings nothing new to the table, somewhat Gears like, but more weighted (in a good way). Anyhow, time to eat...

I do think this game is suffereing like DC did, maybe there is a little bit of bias from reviewers against games going for style of substance and reviewers are knocking a bit more off than usual...whilst I'm not expecting a stellar game I'm sure it's better than the meta 6.5/10

do you think such graphical fidelity and consistency have impacted the game's length ? let's say it's 7 hour long average, a 15h hour campaign would have taken maybe one more year to make ?
Now imagine a GTA with a graphical quality on par with the order and same length and content as GTA 5, would it take 10 years to make ?

Probably a great deal of their work and budget went into the tech which is often quite normal when there is a transition from one gen to the next. I dont think they had the luxury to make the best gameplay they could given that.

Can we stop the game comparisons (AC:U vs TO) and focus on the game here. If you want to make a comparison thread, go ahead, but this a game discussion thread actually with a game to discuss now.

Holy mother of god!!! This game looks amazingly good...and I am only 5min in

My favourite bit from the VideoGamer.com review:
For a title desperate to blur the lines between film and games, it's perhaps odd that the cinematic masterpiece The Order most recalls is Zoolander. Specifically, its eponymous hero/idiot's pre-revelation cry of "Did you ever think that maybe there's more to life than being really, really, really, ridiculously good looking?"

Good news everyone! I just went back in time to warn you all.

It worked! Metacritc is now mixed to positive, you don't notice anything unusual because we're on the changed time line.

The IQ is something else imo. Only if you look hard for it, you see jaggies.

Played the first fight, the shooting felt surprisingly solid...like uncharted (hard, no aim assist).

A bit to much tutorial handholding for me up to now...hope this gets better, as this indeed disrupts the cinematic gameplay experience.

So far so good! As I am completely unspoiled about the story...I am wondering why my character does not reflect in the mirror...graphics bug?

Yeah, very minimal jaggies that can be found only in some very specific objects. Also, there are very rare occurrences of bad shadows on faces, and very small clothes physic twitches when camera sometimes jumps to some character.

99% of the game is really spotless. Incredible.

Played for about 3 hours, and I'm at the beginning of chapter 6.
I guess all the negativity is for the amount of cutscenes and QTEs?
The gun play is totally solid. Nothing special but real solid. It feels great.
The graphics! This is hands down the best looking game on consoles.
I'm not seeing how this game could get bunch of 6s or even lower, but maybe the game takes a nose dive afterwards, I don't know.
Excited to play more tonight.
