New video shows off the amazing tech of The Order 1886 [PlayStation blog]
Lots of attention to detail.
Lots of attention to detail.
Seeing Gallahad without any blurring was interesting, though.
Killer graphics !
It's a story about a small boy who loses his ballon, fuckit WEREWOLVES!The graphics are way too beautiful, it's probably a ploy to hide flaws in the story.
Hopefully we'll get to see something like that at some GDC this year.Would have been nifty to see each render pass ala the Killzone 2 "Behind the Bullet".
"Order 1866: Behind the Beards"
ahem
http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/02...-debunks-rumor-on-five-hour-long-playthrough/Where'd you get 10 hours form?
It took me just over ten hours to finish the game. I’m sure there are some freaks on GAF who’ll manage to do a very quick playthrough, but I imagine most of you normal folks are going to fall along where I did.
So, who do you guys think from the house of Sony 1st party studios can surpass this game's graphics next? I'm tipping QD's next game or SSM's own magicians to even have a chance of seeing noticeable improvements. A hypothetical current gen Heavy Rain esque title or GOW4 assuming keeping their traditional formula and nature should be possible.
I recall last gen from an interview with a Guerilla Game executive who mentioned how internally Sony studios are competing with each other graphically, so I'm kinda hopeful that this friendly race is still burning. And of course the more optimized SDK and newer technique would help too, I just wanna know how much further can the PS4 be pushed. It's more than just about talent - the better the rendering techniques the more expensive the assets are, the more lush the worlds have to be developed, level designers have more work, artists have more work, animators, capture artists, voice actors etc. It just increasingly gets harder to build a game, and budgets need to match and ultimately investors need to believe that it's worth the investment. Every console needs a graphics showpiece, but not every game needs to be one. If Ryse was for Xbox, then Order is for 1886. It's hard to believe that every 1st party studio producing a game following 1886 will be able to build upon what they've done there.
Just from an execution standpoint pulling off Order1886 couldn't have been easy. I don't think you're going to see something at the level of Order1886 coming out annually. Just my thoughts.
You keep dismissing mine, which actually only mirrors Edge's.

But that doesn't mean your asset quality improves. It enables it sure, but not every single title will be given the full freedom that Order has had to whip up a graphical masterpiece. And as always, as years go by console holder will optimize SDK/API and give more and more resources to the devs [more RAM, higher CPU/GPU clocks].
Whichever studio that decides to use the same post-processing effects formula. ND went for a clean style and has suffered in the public eye for it.So, who do you guys think from the house of Sony 1st party studios can surpass this game's graphics next? If you've felt that my comments have been in any way a dismissal of your opinion of the game then I apologise for that because that wasn't at all my intention.
I merely assumed that like you me you hadn't played the game, and so were basing your oipinions on the various drip-fed videos we've all seen. If you've played it, like Edge have, then I'd like to hear more about your specific impressions, because they'd be useful to me (and I'm sure all of us) in helping to inform us whether this game is worth a purchase.
