The Official, Long Awaited, TV Shows Thread

I'm glad Malo knew what it was. When you said Drug Trials I was thinking more like a court room and judge and prosecutors. Too much Pirates Trial coverage in real life any time the TV is on flipping through the main channels. o_O

The Orville is such a better Star Trek series than any recent Star Trek series (except maybe Lower Decks). So far the first half of the first episode of Season 3 is so good. It's what early Star Trek once was.

Just the first 10 mins up to & including the opening credits outshines Halo, Picard, Discovery etc like a supernova ☀️ next to a fetid turd :poop:

As a ship porn kinda guy I'd pretty much blown by load a couple of times already by then but the ship porn just kept on going and going all the way through the whole goddamn 70mins.

On top of that an amazing storyline dealing with an intense topic magnificently.
I cared more about our new bridge crew member by the opening credits than any of the Discovery crew after 4 seasons.

I'm exhausted & going to sleep well tonight.

What irked me is the space ship movements. They moves like they were in atmosphere.

Everything else is as good as usual. For some reason, it still felt "real". Much more than star trek, halo, etc

Oh gods I almost puked, it gets better/worse depending on your viewpoint. The first three were exceptional, I can't wait for the next one!

The ship movement has been that way from the 1st episode, they are being consistent in that.

If you look closely the ships don't actually have any kind of thruster type engines or even RCS.
Can't find an official statement but it seems like the sub-light propulsion is a mode of the quantum drive so its directly manipulating space-time in some way -> Newtonian drift can plausibly not apply.

What I don't like is the new shuttle with faceted flat-panel cockpit, has a feel of ran out of budget/time to make a curved cockpit.
I kinda miss the old cheap cubicle wall fabric.
Also jokes.

Having held out for so long I've finally started watching the Expanse, now in the first half of season 2. I no longer feel my life is going to waste. Having spent countless hours on Elite Dangerous, it feels just so right. It makes me think it could be official prehistory of the Elite universe. Even the things stretching suspension of disbelief are similar (physics stuff like ships seemingly blasting thrusters all the time, gravity almost the same everywhere) so I've pre-accepted them and fully enjoying it all.

If the ships are travelling from one point to another, they will be under constant thrust, accelerating for half the trip, then decelerating half the trip. They also generate constant thrust to create certain levels of gravity.

The gravity is something they address on occasion, especially with non-earthers on earth, but yes it's one of the small things they really have to take some creative license on for some locations. At least when they stop accelerating in the ships, they lose their gravity and float around like they should.

The Expanse is still far more real for space travel and living in space than most other sci-fi series.

I miss having new episodes of that show. Was there going to be any followup movies?

I read so where that the project has been stopped but the team/studio behind it is very willing to continue it if someone want to bankroll it.

I wonder if bozos will bankroll it again.... Or a surprise twist, Netflix gonna bankroll it?

As there were news where Netflix want to change direction from making lots of trash to making fewer things but at higher quality

Netflix needs to stop being controlled by The Algorithm and let shows build up a base and get more than 1 season. I watch new series fairly quickly compared to typical customer, but there are many times where a show has been canceled before I even started watching the first episode.

Sure but so far it has seemed like they flip the ship around literally last minute for deceleration burn, while having been accelerating forward for like weeks. Except for the ships attacking Donnager, there we had a longer approach ass-first. The accelerations would have to be insane with the speeds the travel times require. But this is very minor like I said, Elite Dangerous vs Frontier/FFE taught me already it is better to give some time off for Newton to get enjoyable results.

Well duh.
