The Last of Us, Part 1 Remaster Remaster [PS5, PC]

I wonder how much of that was effort and how much was just dynamically realised by using modernised assets in the modern engine.

Straight away, keep away of unlocked frame rate with fidelity mode. Because PS5 only engages VRR above 48hz when it hovers between 40 and 48 it’s really obviously juddery. It reaches 100+ fps in perf mode though, but obviously highly variable.
Uh nd should learn from insomniac

Ok I played the first hour or so, to me it looks just as good as TLOU2, only sharper as on PS5 TLOU2 still runs at 1440p60.

HDR is great with one exception, their TAA seems a bit broken on specular detail, I assume they use some antiflicker heuristic that relaxes part of the frame, but if done too much can propagate garbage through the history buffer. I see really bad fringing that can't be captured in the screenshots that PS5 maps to SDR.

Some screenshots, no photomode

Loadings are slower than on PS4 and almost on par with Pro ? (loading here wasn't finished on PS3) Are you kidding me? And what about clean reconstruction tech + DRS ?

It just proves my theory: It's very likely a game developed for PC and ported to PS5 without using its most important custom features.

it's still a ps3 game at its heart, like GTA5, you can upgrade graphics, tweak animations, but it's not remade from the ground up, so the core design, and its limitations, stays.
GTA5 "next gen" also has long load times, even if shorter than last gens.

Exactly like demon souls r, gta5 is simply remaster with almost same assets

For demons souls they kept the gameplay but the engine is brand new, so it can load very fast.
Well they annoyingly repeated like a mantra that it was a game built for the PS5 while it's clearly not the case. Demon's Souls is definitely a game built on PS5 and nothing else. Like the Insomniac games It feels next-gen, not just a facelift. And TLOU remake is not even looking better than TLOU2 running on PS4 IMO.

And by the way in Demon's souls they made plenty of QoL improvements. So much that the gameplay ("playing the game") is actually better on PS5.

Hmmm what happened to DRS maybe it will get patched in?

Loading speed is disappointing probably makes the PC port simpler?

Why? Any optimisations done on the PS5 to lower load times should carry straight over to the PC. The bottleneck is clearly on the CPU here. Far more likely that there was simply too much work involved to rearchitect the way the PS4 game loads and so they simply relied on the faster CPU to do more heavy lifting to help keep load times in the same ballpark while handling the much high detail assets.

At this point, I'm not sure why anyone would ever believe a single thing coming from Sony PlayStation.

Except for the price increases then. Everythings being blamed on the PC as a platform as of late. Guys, accept it, Sony games are coming to other platforms.
