Saw my friend's new Joytech PS2 LCD screen tonight, and I'm mightily impressed! It's a perfectly fitting screen that matches the size of the slimline PS2 to provide a filptop entertainment system. Screen quality was excellent, with good viewing angle and even at extreme angles colours were true (though black washed out to grey). It was also very fast with no ghosting or motion blur. DVD playback was very crisp and bright. It comes with a remote control for DVD and screen control, headphone sockets on either side, a large (8") 4:3 display, A/V throughport, AC adapter and Car Powerpoint plug, and for the price of £87 in the UK from Play (though at Special Offer he said, usual retail is £120).

As a means to provide gaming and DVD on the go it was unfaultable. The only apparent downers were a very glossy screen that had clear reflections on dark images (I want to see the movie, not my ugly mug!) and weak stereo speakers (like any monitor). But that's really just nitpicking. I was amazed at the display quality, and given the rest of the value of the bundle, this is an excelent bit of kit for holiday goers.

My friend has an LCD for his Xbox, he really likes it for when he travels.

Just think: Next Gen console... laptops! :D Mini-HTPCs hehehe And quasi-portable!

I would get one ;)

It also recieved some excellent reviews.

IGN: 9.0

Value
It's pricier than competitive screens, but offers 10X as many features and a much, much nicer screen.

Conclusion
Joytech's 8" Digital LCD Monitor is a fantastic portable screen for the PStwo. It features a great-looking 640x480 screen that's a healthy 8" in size. Fine text is much easier to read on this screen than any other we've tested, and those noticeable details carry throughout the entire image. When you count the built-in SRS, dual headphone jacks, IR port and remote control as well as its on-screen controls, well, you have a hell of a product.

The bottom line is that if you're in the market for a portable PStwo screen, this is the one to get.

GameSpot: 7.9

All in all, Joyetch's LCD monitor has a lot going for it. The unit's large, crisp screen, display-mode support, included remote, car power adapter, and compact size are all major pluses. However, the poor speaker performance and sporadic headphone interference are definitely issues you'll want to take into account when considering a purchase. That said, the pluses outweigh the minuses in our opinion, making the overall package worth a recommendation.

Sounds like a winner to me!

I think I've seen a gamecube version of this...

Oh wait, I think I remember now.
Joytech was the one decent screen released for the consoles, and released years ago in Europe. However, it's taken them forever to make it to this side of the pound. They were the only ones to offer I believe a 640x480 pscan image, or at the very least an RGB image.(the gamecube one used the gamecube's digital output, while all other lcd screens were 320x240 and used the analog out)

Joytech's gone through several screens, starting with an original 4" or something for PS2 (and PS1 before then). All these others suffered from looking tiny (which they were) as they were surrounded by a large border to match the size of the PS2. On the slimline PS2 the screen fills the panel so it looks much more part of the system than a tacked-on display. In the hand it looks and feels very much like a laptop - like a single unit.

Yes, Acert, I wonder if there'll be a market for a laptop version of consoles as well as handhelds. PSP...PS3...PS3P? PPS3?
