Tekken 8 [XBSX|S, PC, PS5]

Well I'm not seeing an SSD requirement so I wouldn't be surprised if duplication of data for HDD playing a role.
FF7 Remake on PS4 was a 100GB installation too. Makes me wonder what's the case with Tekken 8's content.

Can't wait. There are a t of videos leaked already with characters that did not receive reveal announcements, story mode segments and unseen stages. Beware of spoilera. The game is over the top with its presentation

It is apparent that the game received a massive downgrade. There are videos from the reveal stage present in the preview version and the difference is huge. The lighting is no where close. A lot of effects like the water splashing on the rocks have been fully removed.

Curious how from the reveal trailer claiming to be real time running on PS5 it came to this. if it was running flawlessly at 60fps why the need to downgrade?

Tested demo, characters are detailed and looks good but lighting is very mediocre, generaly still not mortal kombat 1 level but big improvement vs t7

When did Tekken turn into Dragonball Z?
Exactly what I was highlighting in earlier posts. They have overdone it with the "anime superpowers" and over the top "anime" fights. The Tekken atmosphere is certainly not there quite often. I think the atmosphere topped with TTT1 on PS2, T4 followed with a grounding dark tone, but totally screwed since 6, by adding more and more super power "anime" flair and crazy magic characters. Used to be a martial arts themed game, but it is now over the top action

Let's see...20 years ago(Tekken 5, 2004 yes we are old). It was already partially that though just more subdued. So Tekken has been that for much longer than the previous atmosphere.

How Tekken is right now is just as legitimate as it was in t4(which bombed so hard they had to go back to the drawing board) t5 sold hugely so there has been no incentive to change anything. People really like this more over the top direction.

Although even then devils existed, karate bears and kangaroos dinos and robots were around. This is a natural conclusion of having more ability to sell these things in earnest

Tekken 5 was not at all like you describe. Tekken 5 was an attempt to abandon T4 and go back to it's TTT and Tekken 3 roots.

T4 lost steam because it tried to become even more technical, changed fundamentals of the gameplay on which the series was based on prior to that, and the game was literally broken.
These are also the reasons why despite anticipation for a new Tekken Tag Tournament game, TTT2 bombed as well due to its overcomplexity and lack of balance.
TTT2 sold less on all platforms combined than T4 did on PS2.

Tekken 6 sold across all platforms only 1 and a half million more than Tekken 4 did on PS2. Tekken 5 on PS2 sold double than Tekken 6 (all platforms combined) and another 2 million on PS3.
Tekken 3 sold more than 8 million whereas Tekken 6 sold more than 3 million. Tekken 5 reached in total Tekken 3 sales.

It is only Tekken 7 that sold exceptionally well since Tekken 3. And thats thanks to its engaging much more balanced gameplay which is very approachable without sacrificing it's depth.

Regardless Tekken 7 almost got it's competitive scene killed when Leroy was introduced, and 2D characters like Akuma and Geese raised some controversy with how they were braking the gameplay.

Even with Kangaroos and Robots, Tekken had a perfect balance of introducing itself as a martial arts based fighting game before and characters were based on martial art arhetypes. Including even the robots and animals.
