pff, you have to open your wallet to type in your credit card number? You obviously lack commitment to the electronic marketplace. Mine became memorised ages ago!

CC

in DVD specifics, JAPAN has REGION 2 NTSC-J while EUROPE has REGION 2 PAL

but nobody can say for sure a japanese PSP's REGION 2 is going to be the same as EUROPE.
for the same, EUROPE's PSP region can be named KUNTA KINTE .
the regions on psp's are an invention of sony and has nothging to do with DVD region codings.

eheh ...

Europe and Japan are the same R2 code, so all the EU movies will work on Japanese PSP.
Games are (thus far) region free and work regardless of where you've bought your console from and where you buy your games.

For europeans, the most sensible import option would thus be a japanese PSP.

It's tempting me strongly too, but I quess I'll have the will power to wait.... wait... wait.... wait........wait......................wait.........................wait.............hopefully it'll be June not September.

Edit: As hey69 said, there is yet no proof the european R2 films will absolutely work on japanese R2 PSP, but I'm very optimistic they'll follow the DVD regions and that they'll work.
In DVD's the japan R2 and europe R2 incompatibilities are in the PAl and NTSC television systems. Most TV's today support both NTSC and PAL, and as PSP is not a TV it'll not have this problem.

Well i still haven't touched my credit card. And thank god i don't remember the number by heart.

I'll..... look around.. the 28% import tax thing doesn't sound good to me... Strange cause i've bought some stuff from Link Whatever and never had to pay import tax!

just buy it ! you wont regret it!

DO IT DO IT just ..............DO IT!

i know you want to !

come.... buy mee....buy me! i'm so sexyyy ...mmm sony ...mmhh PSP...

hehe, btw 216 euro for a valuepack is an ok price

btw, i was talking about Belgium , i don't know for GBritain, maybe hongkong is still concidered as a provice of GB so you dont need to pay any taxes , i dunno.
here in belgium (and many other eu countrys) you have to pay importduties + the regional tax (thats 21% for us in belgium)
for anything above 45euro of value .

(but then again, i circomvent that by writing down 40$ value on a box so i get stuff tax free from japan. my last box with 5PSPs from japan was marked as documents ;) ...

free tax f is great ;)

i can get you for 295 euro a valuepack + ridgracer fedext to you delivered in 48 hours... fresh from japan hmmm nice and fresh ;)

See the only thing stopping me now is the region coding thing. I know it's not on games NOW, but it might be there in the future, and it surely is there for movies... i just don't wanna be stuck with a console that only accepts japanese games, cause i need to read what i'm doing.

ok dont buy it !
:devilish:

seriously though, i have information that future titels may or may not
include the region thingie on their games!
for one reason or another a few companies are trying to make the psp region locked for certain games.

one way , psp is region free but the backdoor is open for developers to use the region coding for gaming.

question of making both sides happy ..
(moviez i understand but games... i dont understand the logic of that)

See, the whole "may or may not" thing worries me... :devilish:

l-b was doing lines on an email to me...

(in the high school detention sense... err)

I'll be a europe launchday buyer. I've come within inches of importing a few times, but the tariffs and then non workie europe games always puts me off.

personaly i don't think about it. and btw, as it is like now, it's going to be cheaper to import a game from USA then to buy it over here. I'm sure PSP games will cost 45 euro over here (like a lot of gameboy adv and some DS games)

you can get games for 40euro shipping included from overseas nowadays

but yeah, it's a big chunk of money ....

Yeah well i did think about getting ANY PSP and just import games, probably works out cheaper that way too, but then i'd prefer to get a US PSP so in case people start to region code the games, at least i could just get the US versions and not the Japanese versions...

Movies, i dont really care to be honest, cause if i were to watch a movie, it would be off the MS and not from UMD anyway.

Fuck's sake, just do it! Being one of an elite few who own the thing before it's even released in your territory will be totally bitchin, and region coding actually strengthens the case for importing a US region psp. Think about having first crack at games that will take months to hit Europe, if at all(think Chrono Cross). Your only concern should be the hole in your wallet and any quality issues regarding the PSP.
