Nintendo DS Japanese game list translated
by Tom Bramwell

The Magic Box has posted a translation of a Japanese games list for the Nintendo DS, believed to have come from the console's official Japanese website. The list claims that some 72 titles are in development for the dual screen handheld format in Japan at the moment

Amongst the most interesting names on the list are Konami's Castlevnia and Winning Eleven franchises, Capcom's Viewtiful Joe, a Seiken Densetsu (Secret of Mana) title and something described as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle "New Work" from Square Enix, and a Harvest Moon game.
Other titles that caught our eye included Goemon, Vandal Hearts and Boktai from Konami, and Megaman from Capcom, while Tecmo's Team Ninja has an unnamed title on the list and Namco has apparently pledged an RPG - perhaps a new Tales title.

The list also includes a number of titles and developers previously confirmed at E3 when Nintendo unveiled its initial product line-up. However, the Kyoto-based company has yet to confirm a release date, pricing or launch line-up details for the unit, although we expect to hear more in the near future.

Last week, Nintendo did confirm the official name and design of the DS, and added that "more than 120 Nintendo DS games [are] in development" with more than 100 companies signed up. "Nintendo alone is developing more than 20 titles," the platform holder added.

The full translated DS games list, with thanks to The Magic Box:

I've highlighted 4 SE games but there are other decent ones to! 8)

Square will most likely port 16/32 bit games to DS and 32/128 bits to psp.

I would buy a PSP for Xenogears and Chrono Cross.

Basically SNES era = DS
PS era = PSP

This would be very interesting as it would sell both formats well, e.g. remakes of FF7, 8, 9 on PSP and FF 3,4,5,6 on DS! And the notion of the most successful platforms having numbered FF and DQ would lay to rest on the handheld platforms! :p

It looks to me like DS could easily handle Playstation Final Fantasy ports tough. So perhaps DS will get SNES and Playstation Final Fantasy and PSP will get Playstation and PS2 Final Fantasy. I think its safe to say that there's no way PSP will get SNES Final Fantasy ports (not good enough graphics for the PSP crowd) and of course DS couldn't handle accurate PS2 Final Fantasy ports so..
