Splinter Cell Wii.

While it is good to see one company lauching so much games on Wii, this

The Wii version of Splinter Cell Double Agent is based on both the PlayStation 2 and GameCube builds, with enhancements made to gameplay and graphics. Ubisoft confirmed to IGN Wii that the game will lack some of the missions in the forthcoming Xbox 360 build, but will boast all-new controls specifically catered for Nintendo's console.

and specially this

No online component is planned for the Wii version. Downloadable content through Nintendo's WiConnect24 service is still up in the air.

The gfx are interesting as it seems to have some features that surpasse SC3 (XB) but it lacks others being a mixed bag in respect to the gfx.

Cant wait to know if there is any new gameplay feature from the controlers.

I hope they will put this games very cheap as I would like to try many of them.

One quick observation is that it looks quite good for a current generation console. I can't help but note, however, that the screenshots are all rendered at double the Wii's resolution. If HD is not important for gaming, then why are the PR shots being released in HD? :)

It is odd that they didn't announce this game as a launch game or even announce it until now.

I don't know why they are released them at this resolution. wouldn't it look better at lower resolution or do I have it mixed up?

Meh. Call me a Wii hater, but this just is not what I expect from a new generation console. On the surface, this does not seem to be much better looking than what is already offered in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for the Xbox, but I guess that’s not what the Wii is all about.

I wonder how the Wiimote will work for this game? I guess if it improves upon the already great Xbox control scheme then it would at least have one redeemable quality and if Ubisoft can manage to incorporate online then it should be a decent title. I like the fact the Ubisoft is supporting Nintendo, but I just whish for something other than the controller to separate Wii from Xbox / PS2 / GameCube.

It would be nice if the Emboss Bump Mapping seen on some of these shot was real time and not just prebaked.

It is probably screenshot of the PC version with a resolution of 1280*1024.
This is Ubi soft we're talking about, alot of their screenshots are supersampled and touched up (sometime really heavily).

No online, can't they just port the ps2 online part to the wii?
And why is the Wii version based on the ps2 AND the gamecube builds, and not just based on
one build?

I think that the Nintendo online infrastructure is not ready yet, or something along these lines, meaning that third parties might not be able to provide online support for their titles, until Nintendo online plans are finalised that is.

And the GC Splinter Cell build is virtually the same as the PS2 build, that why they mentioned it as the PS2/GC build.

Probably, IGN mentioned that the libraries haven't yet been released to the third parties. So, I guess, Nintendo's service isn't ready yet.

You can see in the other thread that in FC they are testing online.

Couldnt they just put the all the content on the disk and later release the code via C24.

Seeing how those SC:DA Wii images look, I think its safe to say MP3 will look fantastic. Retro has been working on the lighting and graphics since E3, which should lead to some high detail/quality textures. I'm hoping the shadowing consist of self-shadowing in-game if acheiveable.

What benefits are there computationally to not using normal mapping?

The screenshots look decent, but they could use some serious normal mapping. I wished they would port it from the Xbox version instead of the GC/PS2 build. In my opinion Chaos Theory still loks better due to normal mapping although this Wii version has better lighting effects.
