The Blaze Adaptor is not some piece of voodoo magic. It is merely a connector that enables you to connect your PS2 to a VGA monitor. There is also a disc that forces the PS2 run games in VGA mode. Some games look very poor using this device because their resolution is optimised for a interlaced TV type display. Other games look stunning becasue they are showing a full 480 progressive scan picture. This particuler feature is now enabled for a lot of games as standard. The whole arguement that the DC was higher res is due to 480 output is false.

If that was the case, why were we questioning whether VF4Evo was truly 480p a few months back, or even recently with games like SH3, MGS3, GT4 and many others. ;) :oops:

chap, the Blaze VGA adapter forces the PS2 to *put together* the full frame games so they play in TRUE progressive scan.

it only works with full frame games, and some of them have issues.

the fact that there is no real 480p in most games is another thing alltogether from *pushing more polygons*. it's a feature that has nothing to do with performance. and remember that PS2 is still the only console capable of VGA resolutions here in europe, which proves my argument and makes urs not valid. the manufacturers-developers DECIDE to put pro-scan or not. lucky u US people to have HDtv and pro scan TVs at decent prices and at least with an agreed standard.

the SA-RC argument is so flawed it's not even funny. the whole DC-PS2 argument does not hold any grounds for that matters.
i'm sorry to say that if there were ONE game on PS2 that pushed such little geometry as SA, all single textured by the way, then yes, it would look well above the DC version. shame PS2 doesnt have games that push under 1 million polgons per second... we will have to make do with games that push almost 20 times that much :rolleyes:

IQ: just because MS screwed europe without p.scan, does not mean other regions are screwed. you can always mod your Xbox and it will play p.scan games. 480p advantage still stands. Not to mention ps2 billinear filtering looks pretty bad.

Textures: you dont get it do you? Sony gave ps2 more polys but did they do the textures to go with that? NO. Xbox can do mucho more polys too, but did MS upped the textures? YES. Why you guys seem to think more polys = less textures is cool, is beyond me. Sure you can drop the pspolys, but does that ensure a better textured ps2 game? I cant say, i have seen many ps2 games, from goodcool to badass and i can honestly say, none have SA2 textures. And i am very sure only a handful push 20mpps too.

Whatmore, PS2 is limited to whatever vram it has for textures with the CLUT thing, same with DC and vram and VQ. The old B3D boards had some calculations going and iirc, PS2 textures are quality limited to what it can show at a time, while DC textures are quantity limited due to its main ram.

If he will really not troll again while we wait for Sonic Hero, I will be very happy with that as the latest weekly famitsu said Sonic Hero is only at 20% of completion. We will see less pollution for the time being.

But I don't think he will ever stop trolling.

see the thing is that i just don't get it... a game like SH3 has GORGEOUS textures, unbelievably superior to a game like SA2, and still manages to push several times the amount of geometry on top of it....

then when u try to say that ps2 is superior to DC, he just counters back saying that XBOX is superior to PS2... i mean... DUH!!!! what does he expect...

i just dont get it.... cant he just enjoy his xbox games and leave the rest in peace if hes so happy with his purchase? :rolleyes:

polygon limited ps2 game? hmm lets see, why dont you check games like mdk, nfl gameday, oni and soul reaver. They dont look any better than DC games and their textures are not quite SA2 level. has there been any word on that 1mpps SA2 figure?

ALSO, multitexturing i believe has nothing to do with texture quality, it just needs more passes. you can take away ps2 multitexturing and it will still display that level of usual ps2 textures.

all of them have acceptable ps2 textures, yet alll of them suffer from some form of grainiess and dithering. they do not have the smooth gradient i know off DC and XB games.

WOAH! whats with the trolling comments? first off, have you played SH3? I have the *ahem* leaked copy and trust me the textures are not that GORGEOUS. you can see shimmering and grainiess. The game is not even full 3D, it has limited view and runs at 30fps 480i. Great to push those limited ps2 textures.


You know what ps2 folks, have you seen those textures arguement of old? i mean, it has been made that theorectically, ps2 can only do that amount of textures. We have also seen the CLUT vs VQ crap lately and VQ theoretically is a better compression. Now coupled both of them with realworld ps2 games, ps2 games that has yet shown any form of superior DC textures, then oh why oh, can't you accept PS2 != textures, PS2 = polys?????? :oops:
