Sonic returns

Dance Dance Revolution. Parappa the Rapper. There are many non-violent games out there.

Hmm... I wouldn't consider either of those a game as they are not fun esp since my feet or two big for the pads and well i can't rap

But i guess you are right , there are two types of non violent games

aside from that cartoon violence is fine. Killing cops and having sex in cars is not for a 10 year old .

This is a fine example of over-stepping the line in trying to patronize the gun-lovin' videogaming adolescent age group.

:devilish:

What in the hell..?

Giving a mascot (or the evil clone of a mascot) a realistic pistol; aren't they just asking for trouble here? Might as well give Pikachu a shotgun and a cameo in the next Resident Evil title. It won't take long for some kid to blow his parents' heads off.

So does 50cents and that doesn't keep him from selling records...

Amazing how the textures in Team Sonic games keep getting progressively worse since SA2 on Dreamcast in 2001.
Sonic Teams use of Renderware is like watching Kandinzky using an Etch-a-sketch as main tool.

How on earth can you blame Renderware for the textures Sonic Team are choosing to use in their games?

Apart from Criterions own games (which probably use custom hacks), Renderware games seem to all suffer from limited texturebudgets.

But that's not going to be Renderware's fault. Blame multiplatform development for systems with vastly different amounts of ram, limited development resources, deadlines, a wish to maintain a similar standard of visuals across platforms, or something else related to development.

Renderware actually allows a high degree of platform specific customisation, if you wish to use it.

Inside Criterion:
- "Dude, I need to go over 64x64 on this texture, pass me the list of "custom hacks"."
- "You'll be needing the goOver512KB_Textures custom hack too then!"

Never noticed all of the rockets, guns, mines,... in previous Sonic titles, did you?

Sticking a gun in the hand of an old, has-been hero doesn't make him cool again :(

It worked for batman.....

BTW, is this game going to see a dreamcast release? It really looks like it could. Sonic games used to push the limits of the consoles they're on, now it looks like they're just a reliable cash cow to push out every year with nothing changing but the level design, and a gameplay change that could have been done as a user mod if it was a pc game.

Oh well, at least it's shooting with a fast character, the slow shooting characters in SA2 sucked, but E102 in the original sonic adventure was fun, or as fun as holding foward, and occasionally twirling the stick and holding the a button can be.

I've made my comments well known on this title in other forums. To put it simply, the game will be garbage. SEGA is masterful at ruining their most beloved franchises. To say the Sonic franchise has been beaten to death is a gross understatement. I know what I want from a Sonic game, and this crappy spin-off is not it.

I didn't know this was the game being produced because I really am not in touch with certain people any more. I know what VF5 looks like but had no clue that Shadow was going to be the new Sonic star!

I want Sonic the Hedgehog in a fast paced action platformer with gorgeous graphics and brilliant colors. I want to see the landscape go by so fast in a wondrous 60 fps speed. I want a Sonic game, not a spin-off. Tails and Knuckles are fine, they earned their spot in the Sonic realm. The rest of these off base characters need to leave. This is pathetic that SEGA cannot make a Sonic the Hedgehog game that millions of people would wait in line to buy. I have no doubt in my mind that SEGA would sell a Sonic game by the millions if they made an actual Sonic game based upon actual Sonic the Hedgehog using the classical gameplay. Nobody cares about a dramatic storyline mixed in with poorly designed levels. Nobody cares about Shadow who is nothing more than a rehashed, recycled, Sonic. Whoever came up with the idea surely lacks imagination.

Give me a Sonic game that has enthralling levels with amazing bosses. Let me play as Super Sonic when I get all of the chaos emeralds and do not limit me from doing it on all levels. If the excuse is that the levels would be unplayable then I laugh at that notion. That's a lazy excuse for poor level design and not implementing a true Sonic game.

Ewwwww....when looking at those shots, for a second there, I thought Sega was still making DC games.

I´ve never been a fan of Sonic, but this is ridiculous. It´s like they WANT to rape Sonic´s image.

Evil_Cloud: Hey hey.. don't diss my Sonic knowledge like that. I'll have you know that I almost traded my NES to some kid for a magazine screenshot of Sonic 2 in 1992! Dr.Ro-BUTT-nik's arsenal did include many high-tech weapons..

They just weren't realistic 9mm handguns, or in the hands of our beloved hero. I'm disturbed by Sega's choice here.

March 24, 2005 - Today, SEGA officially announced Shadow the Hedgehog, a title we first saw at this year's GDC show in San Francisco. While the company isn't divulging too much about the title yet, today's announcement did give us some tasty new tidbits.

First, SEGA Studio USA is developing the title under supervision of Takashi Iizuka, lead developer of the Sonic Adventure titles and Sonic Heroes. As you would guess, you'll play as Shadow, a dark hedgehog introduced in Sonic Adventure 2. When we saw the trailer at GDC, we felt echoes of Ratchet and Clank's weapon-heavy action, and indeed, SEGA says that Shadow will collect an arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and other objects as he makes his way through more than 50 missions.

Shadow, tormented by the mystery of his own past, is caught in the crossfire between aliens, the G.U.N. army, and Dr. Eggman. The game will offer multiple paths and multiple endings; the choices you make in the game determine the truth of Shadow's past.

"Since we first introduced him in Sonic Adventure 2, we have wanted to feature Shadow in his own game," said Iizuka. "We maintained Shadow as a mysterious character and now fans can control his destiny by engaging in a unique gameplay experience that offers a multitude of possibilities!"

SEGA plans to release Shadow this winter on all current-generation consoles. Be sure to check out a first batch of screens, and stay tuned for more as details roll in.

Sega Studio USA is the new name of Sonic Team USA, if you were wondering.

The Hedgehog's name is Shadow, and he doesn't have one...

Ah yeah, now there's "a crossfire" between the G.U.N Army, the Dr. Eggman... and Aliens!?! This game hits new lows, and I didn't think it was possible.

Why would a creature capable of running at the speed of sound and destroying anything by jumping on it ever slow himself down to use a gun? Imagine if the Flash carried around a gun and just shot people.
