Something I may have missed re RV250...

(Source: darkcrow.co.kr - Unlike many sites, nothing they have posted regarding RV250 has appeared incorrect or technically impossible to me... they even latched onto the "Radeon 9000" name very early on in the game.)

You see that? - "High performance dual-channel 128-bit DDR memory interface".

Doesn't the R200 only have a single channel interface? 128-bit dual DDR means a 512-bit fetch. Hmm... maybe this is why they have said the core is an R200 "with some things removed", yet it still performs about the same as an R200.

The other info in that pic I can confirm; dual integrated DACs, integrated TDMS transmitter etc.. and the Theater 200 chip IS essentially "Ripper 2" = Rage Theater 2.

Yeah? Arse. :D

On a totally unrelated note, here is ATi's daughtercard patent; http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/search-bool.html&r=30&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=ft00&s1='ati+technologies'&OS="ati+technologies"&RS="ati+technologies"

A lot of people got it wrong if that is the case, lol...

I understand now that each of the two channels is 64-bits wide. :)

As for R300 - it has a quad-channel memory controller. The 64-bit channels are refered to as "A, B, C & D" in the information I have here (interesting, huh? lol). So that has certain advantages over a dual-channel interface if the software is correctly optimised and the data fetches are small, right?

Thanks Ichneumon,

Ya i should have clarified a bit better... it was a 128bit controller with 2 64bit channels.

Definately interesting on the 4-channel on the r300. sounds like it's basically an extension of the r200 controller into 256bit. Wonder how that will act under heavy load in relation to NVs crossbar memory controller architecture with the smaller granular size of channels.
