So when's the release for this puppy? The trailer I watched ages ago said 'Summer 2004' at the end and well, I'd say summertime has been over for a while.

 There was a summer? When? (Brit joke, u're allowed to not understand)

As I said frames per second in movies is not the same as frames per second in games.
There has been discussions about this before, and there's no need to drag this thread there again.

You see, in games for example a framerate of 18 fps is stuttery and skippy as hell, whereas in cinema that framerate would still seem pretty fluid.

...hint: motion blurring

One might be satisfied with Halo framerates next gen, but I will not. The fluidity like can be witnessed in games Gran Turismo 3-4, Ratchet & Clank 1-3 does make a huge difference visually and gameplaywise compared to those with less fluid and constant framerates.

Sure they're different, but we're not talking about 18fps. We're talking about 30fps so it's irrelevent. Of course 60fps is "more fluid" than 30fps, but that wasn't the original point of my post. The orginal point was that, that specific scene could be done on nextgen hardware at 30fps. It's not about which one is more fluid. Most people already know 60fps is more fluid than 30fps, but 30fps is already fluid. A lot of games run at 30fps and they're completely fluid. Bottom line is nextgen hardware will be able to render that scene at fluid framerates. Does that sound fluid enough for you? :p

Square-Enix recently confirmed that that the movie is currently half-completed. Of course that may imply that all their storyboards, planning, setup, tech are in place to complete the other half readily.

Yes, I always find those % complete comments to be a little misleading. Like how only a few months ago Kazunori Yamauchi stated that GT4 was 70% complete (after years of work) and now today GT4 was announced as complete. I guess these percentage figures must not be intended for the layman or something.
