Something for your desktop ... FF7 Advent Children

JESUS H CHRIST! Some of those shots are freaking amazing, #'s 9, 13, and 15 totally blow me away. They freaking animated the blood vessels in Cloud's arm! When does this come out again?

WHOAHH! PS3 GFX!!!

:)

I'd be surprised if PS3 wasn't able to produce that kind of graphics ie textures are pretty low res and blurry. As a matter of fact, that particular image probably demonstrates what a Shenmue game on Xenon would look like. 8)

If PS3 is able to pull off these graphics in real time we will never need a next gen anymore.

If you've seen the trailers ... I don't think we will see this next gen, but I don't say no if I was wrong. ;)

So you mean PS3>Xenon ;)

That's what I'm assuming, since PS3 will be released after Xenon. If it turns out that PS3<Xenon, I'll be ROTFLMAO. ;)

That scene will probably look 50 x more impressive in motion.
It's a bit dumb to say next gen consoles will be able to produce that kind of graphics if one has not seen the scene in motion. There's almost no doubt next gen will render the scene close to 1:1. It is still just a relatively simple scene if one looks just the modelling and textures.
But if you would need to animate it to the same level as the movie, at fluid frame-rate, then I would have my doubts.
I wouldn't call those textures "low-res and blurry".

That particular scene that ODEN posted has blurry low res textures IMO. Also I don't see nextgen having any problem animating that at 30fps. Polygon density is easily achievable in that scene too. I think the art direction may be fooling some people.

I said fluid, not 30 fps ;)
Game fps <|> movie fps

When was the last time you saw a 24fps hollywood movie that wasn't fluid? That scene would be a cutscene on a console anyway. If it were a FPS, 30 fps would still be fluid Halo 1&2 ring a bell?

 yeah it does... ;) just teasing...
the problem is if those characters need proper hair and cloth physics.. might get a little bit too much even for next gen. but yeah i expect things to look similar in next gen games...

As I said frames per second in movies is not the same as frames per second in games.
There has been discussions about this before, and there's no need to drag this thread there again.

You see, in games for example a framerate of 18 fps is stuttery and skippy as hell, whereas in cinema that framerate would still seem pretty fluid.

...hint: motion blurring

One might be satisfied with Halo framerates next gen, but I will not. The fluidity like can be witnessed in games Gran Turismo 3-4, Ratchet & Clank 1-3 does make a huge difference visually and gameplaywise compared to those with less fluid and constant framerates.

I comletly agree. Basicaly we need a full 1TFlops for 60fps and not just 512GFlops for 30fps. ;)

So when's the release for this puppy? The trailer I watched ages ago said 'Summer 2004' at the end and well, I'd say summertime has been over for a while.
