Smash Bros. Brawl :)

I'm uncertain of what would be the point of an accelerometer in the standard pad, considering from the infos we have available right now, it's geared towards retro-gaming.

Lacking the six face buttons of the N64, it will be hard to play many of those games properly, including many FPS titles like Turok and such that depended on the face buttons for moving around.

That's easy, map the C buttons to the 2nd control stick. Or just redo the games...
What will be hard is the ones that actually mapped real button configurations to the c buttons, like the one or two fighting games on the n64.

Anyhow, what would be the point of plugging it into the Wiimote, if it can't also be used as an accelerometer? If it had that, it would have all the functionality of the base nunchuck plus more, so it'd give people the option to use it if they for whatever reason desire to do so.

Nintenho where do you get that the classic controller connects to Wiimote from?
During the week of E3, G4TV spent about 3 hours a day giving E3 coverage. When they had an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime (VP of something at Nintendo), they asked him what Wii owners would use for classic games and Reggie showed the classical controller and said that it would connect to the Wiimote (it's cord was like a couple feet long). Also, I saw some pictures somewhere that showed the classical controller connected to the Wiimote.

It was a given...
It's a Wiimote extension, just like the Nunchuk and the Zapper...

Zapper? Is that what they call the thing that looks like a sawed off shotgun?

The zapper was the name of the NES lightgun, I don't know if the Wii gun is called the same though.

IGN atricle

Sakurai wanted to make sure and give the new game a final name prior to its announcement, for marketing/promotional purposes. "From many different directions," he explained, "We settled on Smash Bros. X. The X gives the meaning of 'Cross,' or intersection." This idea, according to Sakurai, reflects the nature of the game, be it via the impossible character crossovers, the battle on a common battlefield, or facing off against an unknown person via Online play.

Smash Bros. is one of the few Wii games to maintain a standard control scheme. "I was given the task of creating Smash Bros.," explained Sakurai. "Of course, the topic becomes, how should we use the special remote controller? During the planning stages, we gave a lot of thought to this." In the end, Sakurai and his staff decided to not go too far with the controller, in particular avoiding being new just for the sake of being new, which Sakurai worried would make the game difficult to play.

Sakurai also made a few comments about what online play will bring to the title, and some of the problems of developing an online game. "To be honest, there are some annoying areas. While it's definite that the switch to online raises the possibilities for a game, there are lots of considerations, like manners, and level differences." He seems to have an overall favorable impression of online play, though, noting that, "It increases the opportunity to interact with players who are playing the same game."

Online Game is going to be a blast. Hopefully, they'll implement a ladder/ranking.

The Wii is supposed to have four ports for Gamecube controllers (and two for Gamecube memory cards), hidden behind a flap on the top of the machine.

There can't possibly be a better use for them than this game.

Talks about Kojima playing it. New video and character next month.

The stadium looks rather barren in that pic I have to say. not much detail and the audience is just a flat texture.

Worse yet the characters have no shadows.. Whoile I usually don't complain about little things like this it does look rather odd.

Maybe the game just sisn't finished (enough) yet.

Btw. Trust japanese devs to give Samus a skin-tight costume and publish an ass-shot of her. Sheesh. She's a galactic bounty hunter not a stripclub poledancer!
Peace.

I was doing some searching at IGN. Apparently that screenshot is from the October/November build of the game. Nintendo hasn't released any new screenshots since then. The game should look better than that by this point. :)

Hmm. We'll find out tomorrow apparently.

What is happening on May 21st, you ask? Probably the most news we'll receive about Super Smash Bros Brawl in months. This website, which chronicles the development and creative process of the next installment in the Smash Bros. series, is re-launching very soon. Since the game is scheduled to come out later this year, and all we have is a combined three minutes of footage and ten confirmed characters, we can expect to hear a lot of news. Hopefully the game won't be delayed (which is questionable, since Iwata stated that the games announced for 2007 are games that have development teams, but are not necessarily coming out. Still, it was reported that Metal Gear Solid Kojima played Smash Bros Brawl, and that he felt the game could go on shelves now and sell millions), but either way, expect to hear a ton of news on this game shortly.
