I usually consider myself rather left leaning, but I think that Faith Fippinger is an idiot. I think any person who went to Iraq as a human sheild is an idiot. This is because saddam was obviously willing to use his own populace as sheilds, and anyone who was willing to give their life to stop the illegal war as they say, or keep saddam in power as I say is rather clueless... sorry about that, but all these "do gooders" just made me feel weak to watch.
Why didn't they go as human sheilds to protect people in Liberia???? B/c if they did they would have been killed, they only dare stand up to people like the US/UK b/c we actually have some compassion and won't just kill them and be done w/ it.

You play into this idealistic view that she was actually protecting the infastructure - I think if they wanted to bomb it they would have, 70 year old hippy be damned.
I see a woman who tried to use her life as a bargining chip in a disgusting practice of defending an enemy-of-the state's infastructure (hospital, dam, munitions factory: all are indifferent to me, who knew what was in any of them?) during a time of open hostility.

The way I see it any logical person should find themselves a mix of different philosophies b/c most have some kind of positive and negative.
If you feel really comfortable in any party I think you are either deluding yourself or have quit thinking.

There is no right to leave the US freely. It's not in the Constitution. To say otherwise is to deny the government any control over what you can or cannot do whenever you have some sort of "cause." I can be anti-abortion, but if I go and kill a doctor who performs abortions, it's not free speech. Man oh man.
And sorry, peaceably petitioning the government isn't "travelling to a nation that the US has embargoed for over a decade and protecting the infrastructure of a tyrannical dictator." I'm about as anti-war as you can get, but you can actually protest here. Sure, it won't do crap unless the war drags on for eight years or more, but sorry, that's life. Yargh.

Talk about weird. Id have expected the prosecution under some traitor law and the whole US contingent not just this one lady... and not for economic reasons...
