Sega Sports, R.I.P.

VC is a steal imo. You look at the games some companies have made and what they were bought for, and then you look at VC and it makes you wonder... TT did a good job of aquiring them.

Think of big names in the past, like Lucasarts etc. They left a mark in gaming histroy, then fell, then never came back up again, and remained 'so-so' studios 'for the rest of their lives'. Think we can add Sega to this list?

To say nothing of Rare, Acclaim, or Psygnosis and countless others with a glorious yet ultimately ephemeral history. Long sad list, that is...

The thing is SEGA has a whole hell of a lot of money that it didn't have before. Sammy is a company with very deep pockets and their business strategy is to acquire other developers. I'm guessing that they don't really want any Wester devs at this time and it's a shame too.

I will still follow Visual Concepts very closely. They've made great games and I sure hope there is an action game to come out of the studio from Take Two. I have my reasons for that.

VC has consostently kept to a high quality standard, I don't see why this should change just because they've been sold. Unlike EA, T2 doesn't have a decade long history of aquiring and afterwards ruining AAA developers, so lets wait and see ...

I shouldn't even grant you a reply after that :devilish:

But seriously, ever heard of Ultima?
Ultima 7 was more advanced in many ways over 10 years ago than many CRPGs are now.

Oblivion.

  Sorry, didn't really know who the makers of Ultima were.
Oblivion ain't THAT bad............ errrr.... ;)

Origins also made the highly popular wing comander series .

While wing comander has basicly fallen off the map ultima is still known because of ultima online .

WE haven't seen a game of either series since 1998 i believe .

Then there is westwood . The makers of command and conquer

Westwood was once one of my favorite developers, now I couldn't care less about the IP.

Well Bullfrog seemed to be dead when Molyneaux left not that any of Molyneaux's games have really met up to his earlier games (though in reality they are better just they haven't improved that much over his earlier games is the issue in comparison to other genres improvements).
