Rumor: EA being acquired by ...

If you had asked me yesterday if I thought it was possible for EA to get any worse, I couldn't have come up a scenario where that could happen.

Then you post this.

Bravo... bravo! :yep2:

I mean the only way it could get worse is if it was Trencent buying it.

I guess we will have to see if it gets locked behind Luna or not.

Up next for Microsoft is likely buying all of Discovery / Warner. Apple built up their own studios , Amazon built up their own studios and bought MGM I believe and of course sony has sony pictures , sony music and funmiation/ crunchy roll

Yup, EA still exists and their games are still in the top 10 sales charts.
It does feel like EA's business is propped up by FIFA and Star Wars. And I think they've now parted ways with both franchises. Kudos to EA to find a more terrible organisation to work with than themselves: FIFA.

Literally the Mafia of balls.

It's my understanding that EA did not transition well to remote work. so they have a lot of projects that basicly lost 2-3 years in the pandemic.

My completely personal and unscientific hypothesis:

The more huge and soul-sucking a work environment is, the less passionate its employees will be, which will be the most likely types to slack off at whatever oportunity that presents itself.

Plus, big bulky organizations are the ones to waste the most time in internal bureocracy, meetings, politics etc, all the kinds of things that seem to be be slowed down the most in a remote work scenario.

It could certainly be that. I think companies like Sony found success because if you look at their line up its been sequels to PS4 games . Its horizon , gow , spiderman remastered on the pc and you even got TLOU 1 re re make. If you look at EA the games still coming out are the ones that are done yearly like Madden and Fifia. So I think its a matter of a lot of the work is already done on a lot of these titles and this is just games getting pushed to the finish line .
