Robot madness

Just saw ZGundam in an import shop. I was surprised to see that it supports network play. Wasn't aware of that. I'm sure this will make its way to US/EU. Has zurich gone mad with lust yet? :devilish:

Has Transformers shipped for US/EU yet? All Japanese reviews I know of awarded low scores. So try not to bother, unless you are a die-hard fan.

And Bandai will be releasing a Gundam title for the Cube! The game chronicles the events of the 1-year war, and the protagonist appears to be the legendary Amuro Ray. IMO the Cube would have been in a better position today(in Japan at least) if something like this was released long ago.

The release for Front Mission 4 is approaching, and there are lots of articles about it. The voices are all in English, this will make for a very fast localization. Visuals look "ok" at first glance. On second glance however, the environment seems very detailed. A lot of missions take place in towns and cities, and there is a very nice amount of detail for all these areas.

ZoE Anubis: SE will be released soon. Besides new missions and gaming modes, enemy bosses now sport "damage models". As in, bosses will now look increasingly battered and broken as they are pounded upon.

For a title that will not be localized, gamespot has this to say about Super Robot Taisen MX.

While not much is known about Super Robot Taisen MX, the game will take advantage of the PS2's graphic capabilities and use widescreen cut scenes for special actions taken by the characters. For battles, the game will forgo the platoon system from Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen Alpha in favor of a new support attack system.

Does this mean battle animation is now in 3D?Super-deformed or real? Does maskrider have the latest issue of Famitsu?

Yeah... don't they all say that... ;)

Anyway, Edge (Very cool UK Mag) had a whole big feature on Transformers, and it did look pretty cool. It wouldn't be the first time that a low-rated game in japan gets high scores on Edge and vice versa (FFX got a 6 IIRC, and most BIG japanese games didn't get more than a 7-8 on Edge, with a few exceptions being *some* Nintendo games and a few others)...
The screens were very high res (PC version?) and did look amazing though...

Z-Gundum supports 480p output, and the online mode is supported by KDDI's matching, unlike PlayOnline, no Japanese address is needed for matching service, just use your credit card to pay and you can use the matching service.

Bioazard Online is using the same service from what I know.

Depends which Transformers you're talking about. If you mean Takara's game, then yes it seems to be getting lambasted in most places--for good reason, it would seem. If you mean Transformers: Armada, that one is still looking pretty damn cool.

Since Armada has not been released yet, I'll assume you're talking about the first, and say bleh. Edge was talking about Armada, though, just to clear up any confusion. ^_^

ooooooooohh i see... Didn't know the 2-games-thing... yeah they were talking about Armada... looks pretty damn fine...

What makes me wonder, why all of a sudden, are they releasing 2 games, confusing buyers, all after 20 years... i mean it sounds fishy to me... After 20 years no one cared about the franchise, then all of a sudden 2 games come out...? :?

Oops ! Just saw your last sentense, I missed it the last time.

I only have Japanese Famitsu PS2 (which is one of my subscriptions). I didn't notice Super Robot Taisen MX in it.

I have been racing (with GT4P) all the time these few days,

Yeah, no import Z Gundam for me :(

I REAAAAALLLLLY hope Bandai doesn't cut out the network support for the NA release.. they're releasing the Zeta Gundam DVD box set in Q1'04, and I think its airing on Cartoon Network (blech, dubs), so it would be smart to bring AEUG vs Titans over around then.

There were a few Beast Wars games done back in 2000 or so as well. Basically the license was out of sight until Beast Wars started people back up again (so '99 or so; toys showed up earlier, but didn't get much real notice), and then after it's shown ability to last more than one fluke series, more people are interested in game aspects. And then, since it takes years to MAKE a good game... Hehe. Takara's attempts have generally been to release crappy games to suck a quick dollar out of the license, with Melbourne House's Armada being the first that might show you can actually make a GOOD game as well. If it's popular, it might just spawn off some better treatment.

Isn't Transformers: Armada a current show? At least in the US, I'm watching it right now. Kind of lame, has sort of a pokemon like aspect(Gotta collect the minicons!).

Anyhow, the only Transformers show I liked was Beast Wars, and not the later version where they made it to Cybertron, I'm talking about the early one where they were on like a primitive Earth or something. Unless that CG one on Cybertron was a different show altogether.

It is indeed a current show, and it is indeed pretty lame. ;) But then, it's proven the Transformers license could both come back and continue on. I haven't felt the urge to WATCH any of them, but it's kinda comforting to know some form of my nostalgia youth shows are still active. Hehe...
