Region locked coming to PS3?

Those old games are not updated; most people should not mind if they work (badly) over RemotePlay. Some will still complain though.

But if it's a new title like GT5, KZ3, people would expect them to run well over RemotePlay if Sony position the latter as a basic OS feature. If Sony lets the developers decide, then it's basically back to the current situation. I doubt the developers themselves know whether their games run well over RemotePlay today.

Letting even 50% of games work is better than the less than 1% that do now. Plus if it forces them to optimize, then so much the better. The custom soundtrack situation isnt much better. It's sad that I have to use a PSP to get that functionality out of a system competing with another that's had it since day 1

... in any case I think that's really all that can be said about region locking. It's a standard but as of yet unused feature, as far as I know.

I think that's the point Sony wants to avoid. It's extra work, and it may cannibalize on PSP game sales. And if only 50% of the games work properly, they will be cruxified by unhappy gamers.

I remember Kaz Hirai highlighted RemotePlay shortly after PS3 launch. Developer responses may not be great because he kept quiet after that.
