Ratchet and Clank [PS4]

Ok so I'll rephrase it. In my eyes, if we exclude the obvious ungodly geometry on offline renders, Toy story 1 has long been surpassed. In my opinion. And yes I don't need to hear about how realtime graphics need to 'fake' some things and offline have an infinite amount of computational power to render even one frame at super ultra mega high resolution with alien antialiasing (AAA) YAWN!
You can't undo it any more than you can put Beetlejuice back it the bottle!

When i said toy story graphics i was talking about a feeling of playing a kids cgi movie. On a pure technical level there are obviously things that are better now in realtime gaming, and things that are still worse.
Now i am waiting for "avatar" graphics ^^

Well, I would personally still have liked 60. Gameplay first, especially for titles like these.

What would be nice would be the option. Choose 60 and the gfx quality or effects are decreased to balance, choose 30 and the candy is dialled to 11. That way you are catering for everyone.

I was thinking, if we continue discussing the difference between Real Time and CGI, it will pass the time until E3.
Let's stay in this thread too, it will give Ratchet more exposure than other games, so it's a big win!
Fuck the police!!!

You mean choose 60 fps or 24 fps.

I still don't 'see' it?!?

Can someone tell me what looks so special in the new gameplay video wrt graphics?!?
They look very nice? :p
Perhaps the cartoony style cant impress you?
I think of all the "cartoonish" 3D games out there this is the most beautiful

Its all about lighting currently, and 99% of the time, it's the implementation of a PBR renderer and production pipeline. The colors, contrast, and materials just look right, in a close match to what cgi movies such as the latest pixar or dreamworks movies could achieve (with PBR or not, thanks to the tighter artistic control a canned movie afords)
Turn off you texel/polygon counting graphic enthusiast mode, and look at it from a more generalist perspective. Try watching footage with a squinty eye maybe, and you'll "see" it. Its more with the colors than with the pixels...

Looks totally brilliant. Hope it's as well written as a Crack in Time was. ACiT was also the only franchise entry where the mind bending Clank parts could stand toe-to-toe with the delightful shooting. Most dedicated puzzle games wish they were that clever.

No 60 fps no == no buy for tuna.

In this type of game the feeling when you are running, jumping and shooting is the most important, and that is greatly enhanced with a higher frame rate. More time for other games I guess....

30fps should be fine for this game. They're not super twitchy games. I think it looks real good. The previous titles were always good games, at least the ones I played, and Sunset Overdrive was a lot of fun, so I have faith that this will be another solid game.

They're not exactly rocking the boat with the formula, but that's alright with me. Great series of games. Fun, light-hearted, nice to look at, cool guns. Can't ask for much more.

I actually spent half of that video just looking at his little floppy furry hears flapping around, and also while using the jetpack how they follow the wind (all with accurate physics) and it's just the cutest thing.
