PSN weekly updates

VF2 is (as expected) excellent! Will we get Virtua Striker in Europe as well or is that only for Japan?

You know my complaint with SEGA? No Panzer Dragoon yet??? Especially Panzer Dragoon Saga????

Waiting for the Saturn emulator. This is really OT and pointless btw.

No its not. Nights and VF2 saw their release in PSN. Panzer Dragoon is sonething many would love to see too

Are you ignorant? Does the PS3 version of VF2 look anything like the Saturn version? And why do you think the PS3 version of NiGHTS look like a PS2 game?

I would love to get Panzer Zwei and Azel on the PS3, but SEGA has to code a Saturn emulator before that will be reality. And time has not been nice to most Saturn games' visual appeal unfortunately....

Are you listening to yourself? First you talk as if only with a Saturn or Model 2 emulator these games can be brought to PSN then you admit that some are there albeit with some Saturn/Model2 treatment.
If Nights wasnt released on PSN and I asked for it would you come and say "oh you are ignorant Sega needs to make an emulator"?

OK, I will write in an easy to understand format.

The Saturn and the Model 2 are two different architectures. Sega apparently have a Model 2 emulator that they used to releases some games on PS3 this week. Sega have not released any Saturn emulator on PS3 (they did release some games based on the emulator SSF on the PC in Japan though). So the PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 2 is emulated from the Model 2 original.

Sega released a PS2 version of NiGHTS in 2005 (IIRC). They used that version to make the PS3 version. I do not believe NiGHTS was ever emulated, instead they ported it first to the PS2 and later to the PS3.

Feel enlightened?

Thanks for the enlightment but you are still irrelevant. It doesnt matter how they can or how they will do it. Can it be done one way or another? Yes. If they can put the effort for Nights and VF2 they can do it for another game.
in addition yes Nights isnt running on any kind of emulation. Its a port. The game exists on both the XBL Arcade and PSN and the IQ is enhanced from its PS2 counterpart. So yeah. Emulation can be simply irrelevant

You do not get it. The effort of putting NiGHTS and VF2 on the PS3 is vastly different. For VF2, all SEGA had to do is to package the original binaries (version 2 and version 2.1) with their Model 2 emulator. For NiGHTS, SEGA had to port the PS2 version which was totally reprogrammed.

You might think it would be commercially feasible to reprogram Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Saga for the PS3, I do not.

In one hand you see that Sega proceeded to port/reprogram one Saturn game for two generations and on multiple platforms at that, and at the same time you claim its commercially impossible to make it happen for another game either through emulation or through reprogramming. Thats an oxymoron that you base on a personal assumption that it wouldnt make business sense, just because it involves some effort and some cost.
Well i l never implied it would port itself for free.

I wrote "Waiting for the Saturn emulator." If SEGA had a Saturn emulator for the PS3 I am sure we would have seen the Panzer Dragoon games by now. To reprogram those games though, with the assets and source code very possibly gone, would be a pretty major effort. I can not in any see that it would be economically feasible to do that, but as I said before, you might have another opinion.

BTW, Sega has been actively porting/emulating Model 2 games since the PS2 days. Both VF2 and Sega Rally 95 was released on the PS2 and those looked emulated to me.

Awesome tech. LBP2 is a great platform for experimentation. This will create a sort of test-case for Wuuing games on PS3.

Yep. ;) got my eye on it. Although it doesn't have 4 player coop, but looks fun. I've money sitting in my PSN wallet waiting for something to buy, so will probably jump, but XCOM is the next game.

I got it yesterday and got it to work too (which isn't as trivial as you'd hope).

I think I'll post a separate thread for it. May not be too many trying it, but it's possibly interesting to some who don't have it as well.

Fuck man ! I wanted to buy the Unifinished Swan +Journey Bundle and it went out of sale already ! I just reached home, fired up my ps3 to buy it and turns out it gone   !
WTH SONY !!!!!!

Dunno, but remember you can buy on PC now and don't have to go through your PS3 (although Labyrinth Legends wasn't on the PC store yesterday. Have to see if it's on the PS3 store).
