PSN weekly updates

Pricing is way off for PSN full games, I like having my games stored on HDD, but when you buy a game for almost £20 cheaper than the RRP only a fool (or rich person) would even entertain the idea.

Get less, pay more is not a selling point.

PlayStation Network Scheduled Maintenance
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/11/16/playstation-network-scheduled-maintenance/

PlayStation Network will be offline for routine scheduled maintenance on Thursday, November 17th from approximately 8am until 10pm PST.

During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the following services:
PlayStation Store on PS3 and PSP.
PlayStation Network Account Management.
PlayStation Network Account Registration.

In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from us.playstation.com. However, some users may be able to play online during the maintenance.

During this maintenance, you can continue to collect in-game Trophies and these will be updated on your profile once PlayStation Network is back up and running.

When is Daytona USA coming out in Europe?

It's been out for weeks, same date as the US one?

The last maintenance made the 2 console activations active by the way.

For me personally, that is also one of the reason why buying the online version can still be attractive at times - being able to install it on both of my PS3s (and even play at the same time). But that's just marginal use, so yeah, pricing should be more competitive and realistic. Surely distribution costs of a disc based version are more expensive? But retail sales are still too important, I wager, and still influence online pricing.

Official PlayStation Blogcast Episode 001: Greatness from small beginnings
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011...-episode-001-greatness-from-small-beginnings/

Introducing the Official PlayStation.Blogcast!

I know we’re a little late to the podcast party, but we wanted to ensure we could offer more than just four guys chatting about games. PlayStation’s specialty is creating experiences that you can’t find anywhere else, so we wanted to extend that philosophy to our long-awaited podcast, which launches right here, right now. ...

When crafting the podcast’s purpose, the team identified three goals:
Share exclusive first details on next week’s PSN game lineup
Answer questions from the PlayStation community
And finally, evolve to meet YOUR needs

Tune in to learn what’s hitting PlayStation Store this coming Tuesday, November 29th, then check back Sunday afternoon for a full list of all PSN and Blu-ray games with The Drop.

A lot of full games being released on PSN now. This week EU gets among others Rayman Origins, Medieval Moves, and Move Fitness. The latter are both 29.99 and I'll be sure to pick up Move Fitness, as it is quite good! The sword exercise in there alone is probably worth it ;) There is a lot of other stuff too, like a demo for Carnival Games.

Last week I picked up about a blob as a Plus offer for 3,49 and I heartily recommend it as a sweet platformer that can be played with 1-2 players. My son likes it a lot.

Did anyone notice by the way that there are a tonne of dynamic teams being poured into the PSN these days? Some of them also don't shy from targetting horny teenagers ...

A good few of them are from http://www.youtube.com/user/disruptivepublishers, who seem to specialise at using digitised content mostly, but there are also a few 'fantasy' girls, which look quite good.

This is not my favorite one, but a good example of what you can expect nonetheless ;)

The thing I don't like about these dynamic themes is the repetitiveness. I'd like to see more like the default wave experience, only with more varied effects, but we just get pretty primitive 2D animations. Perhaps the best I know of is maybe LBP's theme, with its change according to system time. Some of the others that look quite good, like the candle flames or campfires, have glitches where the video is cut - they aren't seamless loops, and I find that very jarring. So all-in-all dynamic themes are something of a disappointment IMO.

Edit : The icons can also be a bit poo. Can you choose a dynamic backdrop and other theme icons? I know you can only choose backdrops associated from the current static theme or images on HDD, so I presume not. I like the icons of the theme I use (Beautiful Space/Beautiful Nature) and don't want to change those.

While I very much appreciate drawings of sexy ladies (not so much in this case though), I just hate these rudimentary "Flash"-animations.

The Little Big Planet Theme is still the best.

Yes, I agree with that. I like the interaction with the time, getting dark at night etc. On the other hand, it is really just background stuff because I'm never long in the XMB and while I'm in the XMB I'm actually selecting stuff. :D

But the Clock is still my favorite, and it's been on my XMB for a looong time now. On this video here it is a little bright versus the letters, but you can change the brightness of your theme in the dynamic theme settings, and I just put that down to just the right level, and it's just really neat, and useful, because it actually works, including the second counter. :)

The LBP theme shows that dynamic themes can actually be dynamic and change. The fact these PSN themes don't just shows they're a bit cheap and lazy. Should be called animated themes rather than dynamic. :p

They should just allow me to loop the videos on my HDD in the background. I have a bunch of SI Swimsuit shows.

If they want to program a dynamic theme, they should go for something useful. A clock is fine. A community page showing what people in the chatroom or Home are doing is good too.

The flying ISA spaceship theme and the Heavy Rain theme are the best dynamic themes for me. I keep switching between those two.
Would like to have the Afrika Theme too, but couldn't find it.

Dungeon Defenders has been out on the US PSN for 6 weeks?! Ah, I see. SCEE are holding things up. Similarly they've stopped Under Siege getting patched as they keep blocking them at QA, despite letting through things like the Skyrim bugs.

Nice. 4 brand spanking new Marvel Pinball tables available for grabs. They all seem very well done, and as was the case with the first 4 Marvel tables, it's once again the underdog license which got the most imaginative of the 4 tables. I have no idea who Moon Knight is, but he's now the star of a kick-ass Pinball table.
