PSN weekly updates

I was just about to say that there are a tonne more demoes, but you redeemed yourself just in time pats ;)

Move Heroes had a limited demo. I got a code on facebook but passed it on. Apparently though it is really rather bad.

Muahaha... I have neglected PSN for quite some time already. Want to try Stacking, Alien Breed and Castle Crasher but haven't done so.

Yes, I remember now. You mentioned it before. ^_^

Good EU update this week. The Store is getting a frontend refresh:
  • Demos are now a top level category, where you’ll find the latest BD demos and trials for PSN titles, as well as an organised A-Z list
  • We’ve added a Franchises section – in here we’ll be building up a library of games, DLC, themes and all the rest which can be browsed by a whole franchise – so now there’s one place to visit to get all the KillZone, Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed content you’re looking for
  • We’ve added a Charts section, with the top 10 most downloaded games, demos, minis and more, so you can find the most popular content more easily
  • We’ve pulled Themes and Avatars out to the top level so you can more easily find what you need to customise your PS3 experience
  • A more organised PlayStation Plus area, with sub-categories and new informative banners
  • A number of cosmetic configuration changes (ooh exciting!)
...which seems to be brining it more in line with the NA store (about time too!). Also Dungeon Hunters Alliance is out today. I would be playing this evening, except my BB is so slow I won't be able to download it by the end of today.

Dungeon Hunters Alliance has a gobsmackingly awesome launch trailer:

I'm still undecided whether this is my favorite trailer of all time, or one of saddest tragedies in human history.
If I knew nothing else about the game and saw that trailer, I'd avoid the game. But it's bought (Broadband back up to speed - wahay!!!) and it's a generic, simple, yet entertaining dungeon crawler. Voice chat is clear as you'd expect these days, always on. The only obvious shortcoming at this point is only three active skill slots, yet 21 skills to invest in per character. That makes much of your investment irrelevant, building up skills you won't use, at some point.

I'm tempted. Did you play it with the Move controller?

No, and I'm not tempted to try. Move controller kinda emulates PC controls, so point and click. Although the trailers shows Nunchuck for movement, so perhaps there's override. I guess if you can move with Nunchuck and aim with Move, that's an improvement in flexibility over DS3 that only aims they way you are moving with a little auto-aim assist. But Move also appears to have gimmicky controls, like rotating it to activate a spell, or shaking it to drink a potion.

IMO these games should be direct control, moving up to riff-raff and mashing buttons to dispense with them!

I thought I've seen it last week in the German store already. Supposedly it's rather crappy anyway.

I heard it's short, and there are no new enemies. I'm going to wait and see what the second DLC brings, and maybe buy them as a bundle.

Edit: Has anyone played the Socom Special Forces Beta yet?

I bought it too and will try move tonight ...
Don't bother. Or at least, don't look to play through online with friends as we agreed yesterday. In classic PSN online style, there's a catastrophic bug. Existing players cannot join games via invite. You have to create a new character to actually join a game, although reports say that blindly joining public games works. But the whole advertised "play with friends" aspect is broken. How did this get through Gameloft and Sony testing? Who knows.

Hmm, well at least that makes me feel better about going to bed early last night, I was exhausted! But yeah, they can't be happy about that considering how they advertised multiplayer ... Though Gameloft you say? I vaguely associate them with early bugs though I can't remember from where. What other titles did they publish again?
