According to Hello Games' Sean Murray, the creators of the PSN exclusive stunt racer ran into some surprising, arguably boneheaded opinions when pitching the title. Murray said at today's Develop Conference that despite the following suggestions from top idea men, first week sales topped 50,000 copies.

[List of comments from publishers]
"Collecting giant coins feels unrealistic to me"
"I can see this working as a Facebook app"
"We want games that are less about fun right now"
"Can Joe be a monkey? We like Monkeys"

I haven't bought the game. Now that PS+ thing delays my purchase to see if a deal will comeby "shortly". :)

That right there is the biggest downside for me to Playstation Plus. But I think I'll probably continue to buy the games that I want to ... there is a chance though that games I'm not sure about, I will hold off buying and hope/wait for a Playstation Plus offer instead.

I was very happy to get a DD version of LBP by the way, as it's really a game that benefits from being able to boot it up for a short bit of play as much as a game like Joe Danger does. It brought me back into playing the Pirates add-on levels, which are great fun. The game was only 2GB as a download, by the way, so I wonder if this will mean that LBP2 is suitable for DD as well - if so I'm fairly certain to prefer the DD version and get that day one.

What's the start up time like for LBP when run off of the hard drive?

Cheers

Just over 30 seconds to get past the disc loading to the Sony screen, and then another 30 to get to the Pod (but that's mostly connecting to online I think).

For the handful of pinball fans here, there is a very very cool new pinball table out for Zen Pinball, Mars themed. It follows the trend set by the also excellent Ninja Gaiden table and creates a table with sattelites, space shuttles and robots a little beyond what would be possible in a real table. Game also updated to 1.06

Couldn't find a movie yesterday, but someone made a high-res youtube since then, so here it is. This guy has the motion blur/trail thing on for the ball though, which I strongly recommend turning off, because the game looks 10x nicer and realistic without it, imho.

I got my first trophy for it yesterday, wasn't too hard. The table is easy in that you don't die quickly, but hard in that you can flip around without scoring big points if you don't focus on figuring out what to do. I got the multi-ball a few times already though and its rather hilarious, in that periodically gravity is shut off and the balls start floating everywhere. The robot / mars lander / spider thing that walks around and positions itself at various points in the table and kicks your balls back into play, or the space shuttle mini-game where balls are picked up and placed into the cargo hold from various locations is also pretty fun.

It's a good addition, like it better than the Sorcery one. Again more than worth its measly 2 euro or whatever it is in your currency.

Very good table indeed. Save for traits typical for video game pinball like flying space shuttles and walking tri-pedal robots (and apparently zero gravity shenanigans, which I have yet to experience for myself) it's actually set up in a way that would be suited for a real-life machine for a change. It has a nice flow to it and the clean layout makes everything easy enough to follow and understand. It's just very well designed.
Machines like Ninja Gaiden and Earth Defence are just too damn complicated and cluttered for their own good. You can hardly spot the fourth flipper on Earth Defence for crying out loud.

If you've ever played Angry Birds, the headline above has already made your day. If you've played Angry Birds only to have a friend / significant other snatch it away -- a cruel reminder of your iPhone-less existence -- then the above headline has undoubtedly left you positively elated. Yes, Chillingo's Joe Wee has confirmed to The Sun that the addictive, Boom Blox-esque puzzler is headed to "Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and PS3."

On the iPhone/iPad, I have 3-starred all the free Angry Bird levels. My family is still working on the paid version. Pretty addictive. I think some levels require luck to get 3 stars.

Only requires 1 finger to operate, my friend. Even Apple advises against overuse of the multi-touch interface.

Besides, 2 finger and 3 finger swipe are inconsistent between iPad/iPhone and Mac trackpad.

If using PS Move, drag, flick, point, tap, double tap, button press, etc. will be fine.

If using DS3, it should be doable using the analog sticks plus one button too.
