Can i connect my PS3 to an Asus Xonar HDAV via HDMI and have both video and audio, effectively using my PC as a receiver and video output through my monitor and audio through to my speakers.
HDAV supports HDCP so this should be possible as the PS3 should be able to decode TrueHD or DTS-MA to LPCM and pass it to my soundcard in 7.1. This is purely for gaming purposes as i have some PS3 titles that have audio in LPCM.....and i am very curious
If above is possible can audio also be bitstreamed (from PS3) to HDAV which decodes it to my heaphones/speakers - I am fully aware that this is pointless since the HDAV supports unmolested HD audio and i am better of letting my Bluray player (Arcsoft TotalTheatre) handle the movies.....but i am curious all the same
Any advice will be appreciated
Cheers
