PS3 Specs confirmed? BDA included = Yes

Those are the E3 specs, presented in exactly the same format where the HDD as included or not is ambiguous.

Nothing new here, people. Move along now...

I guess the parts that are news to me are:

* Firewire is out completly...
* 3 Ethernet ports!

The rest is completly inline with what was announced/expected

News? PS3 never had firewire, and it always had "only" 3 Ethernet ports... :smile:

PS3 specs will be "news" again when we finally get the specs for RSX. Cause we pretty much know everything else.

I'm pretty sure they announced firewire. There was even a firewire jack shown in early concept shots. I guess I never really noticed the 3 ethernet ports.

1 input 2 output, not sure what that means since LAN traffic is bidirectional by nature. I guess 1 to the WAN that connect to the net through a NAT/Firewall and then 2 for the LAN and no NAT?

You were probably thinking of the optical out. This news is from E3 05...very old.

Why would it have Firewire when it has USB 2.0.

Other than ease of use, but then i doubt many people used the firewire for the PS2.

It's probably a switch or hub.

Most CE devices like videocameras use IEEE1394.

What is BDA?

Blu-Ray player. There has been dowm speculation that Sony was going to do the 2 sku thing. One price with Blu-Ray & one price wtih out. Ok this page is new to me & I also noticed that is says Spring 2006 right under the picture of the PS3. This is the first time that I have seen an "official from Sony" of any actual release date.

Sony have been saying all along Spring '06! Where have you been? ;)

Did Sony actually say that. I know that was the most taled about timeframe. I have an Playstation Magazine at home. where the the head guy for all playstations & the CEO of Sony Entertainment were asked directly, we here spring in the timeframe, can you confirm. They both responded that Sony has made no such promises as such & that (to paraphrase Carmack) it will be done, when it's done. They also would not even confirm that it would be Japan first, then US or all over the world at the same time.

Since E3, it was "spring 2006". Now it seems it's not even that, it's September...

It's a switch, a switching hub, as announced at E3.

Well, it doesn't really matter since it was never announced for PS3 in the first place.

And yes, that products page is circa E3 old.
