Does someone have a quote or link about the no coop? I just find it hard to believe that the one thing that seemed to be universally liked in R2 would be cut without explanation. If so, a dumb move imho.

no more 8 player co-op? That was the best part of R2 and I know a lot of people will agree with me. I don't see the logic in getting rid of that feature.
All about focus... we determined early on we wanted to focus on certain things and make them the best possible. Moving co-op back into the campaign helped us do that.
It's really not quite the same, though you have the basic elements of XP and gaining levels and skills in the frame of a good fps. That's as far as the similarities go though. Borderlands is a proper single-player game with co-op layered on as an option. Namely there's no dependence on a team in Borderlands, as each class can function alone. You also have a big connected RPG game world which you unravel bit by bit, with hub sections, settlements and side-quests and caverns and mines and all that.I have to agree with Rolf N, that the R2 coop was what I hoped for future coop in all games.
I never tried Borderlands, how does the coop there compare to R2?
One last question, was R2 p2p? If it was server based and they're now going p2p then at least I could understand better. I may not agree but at least I would understand.

Meh. Fake drama equals weak storytelling.
