[PS3] Resistance 3 [SPOILER ALERT - Contains R2 story discussion]

I see Sony is trying to get you to sign up PS+ for the beta codes now. :devilish:

EDIT: btw, the game is confirmed to use dedicated servers. :love:

“Compared to R2 it is so much better…. graphics, controls, story, difficulty… I am really enjoying it. How it feels and plays is a ton better than R2. It is difficult on normal (more strategic, no run and gun at least in this difficulty). The graphics are dang good too. The game feels very dark and graphically it has a very dark palette. It is also quite intense in some areas. I also enjoy how there are med packs instead of health regeneration! The art direction is pretty cool

I don’t play COD much so I can’t really compare much. Last I played was World at War. This feels similar

To be honest I played a couple hours yesterday but couldn’t really get into it… just wasn’t in the mood. Tonight I am really enjoying it tonight though. I am probably 4 hours in so far and the levels are pretty good. I am currently in a “stealth” area and it doesn’t feel like other stealth games (to me at least).”

Insomniac replied in their Twitter feed that a SP demo with Move and 3D support will be out soonish( tats what they said) and will be based on the final code ! Hope it comes before the game ships not after !

I had a voucher code from gamescom to download the R3 demo (the one with the boat).
Really liked the demo, shooting was ok..overall good I say!
Graphics were nothing special to be honest, but the good atmosphere and the interesing mood did a good job to suck me into the scenery while playing...I really like the darker muted apperance of the third title..great!

Yeah ! I had installed CFW just for that demo :p ! ANd I loved the atmosphere, its so soo sooo cool ! The shooting wasn't that good in that demo, but its old code. But i have played it again and again, the game feels really cool. I am sure the final gameplay will rock !
 
It's getting lotsa hate on GAF because of R2...

The beta servers still have some issues to work through (Occasional crashes after the last patch).

I shall be away on September 6 regardless. :cool:

EDIT: Hope the support is strong. I had a party of 4 Gaffers (including myself) running in the game last night. We won all rounds. ^_^
 
RenegadeRocks, I heard the R3 public beta in US starts tomorrow.

The basic mechanics play like RFOM, but they have added perks, killstreaks and upgradable weapons. Be prepared to be confused at first. You'll see people running around with weird effects (e.g., Chimeras with mini electric hoola hoops). ^_^

I hope the beta servers are big enough for the public beta. I have experienced some lag a few days ago when PS+ members flooded in. It's been ok these 2 days. We shall see if the servers stay that way.

You mean everyone's invited ! No codes required? Wow that would be cool. Hope it is sorted out enough as everyone will look at it like a demo not a beta.
 
Got a mail from insomniac saying R3 beta is open to public from today !!!!

Am not near my ps3, but the playstation blog update doesn't mention it. Can anyone chk and confirm, please.
 
Ok Downloading it now :p ! and a Hardcore mode confirmed ! Will be available on Day 1, will have no berserks and perks and what not !!!! Just pure Resistance !

Famitsu gave it a 34 out of 40 !!!!

Played some , the game has a very pickup and play feel to it. Didn't have to learn anything, started playing immediately and got 3 headshots :cool: ! The gameplay has that addictive quality of "Just one more round" , which most of the games miss, love that.

But I have to say this, the graphics are very blurry !!!!! Very blurry, look great, but the blur kills everything, never expected this, not from insomniac. The colors and map looks great, but everything is blurred and that DOF is overused.

but the game seems fun from the one match I played, I am in !!!!
 
PLayed more: My verdict: I LOVE THE GAME !!!! :p I was very wary of what they might have done with it, but it has turned out to be very very fun and very very beautiful colours(once you stop minding the blur, that is !) ! I have to congratulate the art director that his colour choices are beautiful and spot on !!!!! The lighting looks so damn cool , so damn cool ! and as is known by now, I am a sucker for good lighting. If only this game could be as sharp as Killzone 3, this would be the best looking game out there !

You're lucky !

The beta hasn't been all good. It was marred with crashes and lag at first. Insomniac was focusing on the day one patch for the final game. However, over the last 2 weeks, they worked very hard to patch everything to this stage (hence, 5 patches).

It's more like RFOM compared to R2 right ? T_T

I finally contributed to the beta. I kept quiet during the R2 closed beta. For R3 beta, I b*tched a lot more. Both the beta testers and Insomniac are more experienced this time round. I'm very glad they found time to fix the critical issues. The final game is said to be more polished than the latest beta.


EDIT: Renegade_Rocks, Pikma (A gal Gaffer who loves R3) and I had a R3 meet up about an hour ago. ^_^
