[PS3] LittleBigPlanet 2

But will anyone want to play LBP levels that miss all the LBP2 level goodness? They'll feel primitive by comparison.

I strongly disagree that they'll feel primitive. Given the scope of LBP2 and all of the different types of games you can create, I think they'll simply fall into that scope, from simple platforming, to complex platforming and side scrolling shooters, etc.

See 4 minutes for the impossible

I had seen that one a week ago. ;) it was just cool to see the own voice / camera and close ups of anywhere, and the higher res textures with own pictures/art

There is one type of games I am not sure if LBP2 can do effectively: Devil May Cry.

Animation-wise, it may look weird (not stylish). SackBoy's limbs are too small and short.

If they use Direct Control bots, it's not quite the same thing. The level creator must be really really talented to make the action elegant and snappy.

I can think of plenty of genre's that LBP2 can't do, but I think that's really missing the point. The purpose of LBP2 isn't to think what you cannot do, rather, what you can do. Why spend time trying to think of a genre you can't do, when you can start from the ground up and craft your own experience?

Still, I think we'll be absolutely floored when we see some of the stuff people can come up with given all these new tools. I can't wait to see what the new "rollercoaster" fad is going to be with LBP2.

That's true ! It's on my mind because I like to see both the positives and negatives together. How do you animate a Sackbot ? (Is it possible to have custom animation ?)

I believe you can pre-record things like actions and expressions (using the face and arms/hips/head). I don't think you can do anything particularly complex.

It was a feature that was developed for LBP1 but never appeared. Could this be because Sony wanted to keep things back to sell LBP2? I thought it was because of copyright and dodgy content worries.

They were flip-flopping on the LBP 2 idea. In the end, they probably looked at the whole thing and decided that they need a major revamp. :devilish:

Could be, but being able to record your own voice-over for story elements in user created levels is probably going to be about as big a copyright and dodgy content worry. ;) I'm guessing they feel confident enough that the community and moderation tools are working sufficiently now, we'll see!

Integrating move with LBP2 may be the best thing possible for the platform and motion gaming in general! We'll have thousands of ideas tried.

Seeing them move platforms with Move makes me want an interesting "Kirby Canvas" type of mechanic, where you can shape the level and move / alter platforms as you play, and should make for some interesting platforming puzzles.

After finishing Trine and watching these videos, I've got tons of great ideas for a new platforming level.

I had the same thought replaying Trine. Should be a viable sackmake in LBP2 and provides a style for content to aim for.

Definitely. Instead of drawing objects you could have levers and emitters, the only challenge would be figuring out how to move them around. Though, if LBP2 has move support and allows you to move objects using pointer controls, then there will be no problem (for me!). We'd have the grappling hook, move support for a cursor and I'm sure you could find out some kind of melee mechanic.

Speaking of which, have they said anything about creating weapons for melee in LBP2 at all?

The CE edition looks worthwhile. I have only bought Demon's Souls CE to date. LBP2 will be the second one. The bookends and plush toy are too sweet to pass.

One of the first CEs ever that I am interested in. However, much will depend on the price of the bare game, and whether or not that game is available through PSN day one. If so, I'll very likely just get the digital version. I tried the LBP one the other day that was a Playstation Plus bonus, and it's so convenient to be able to quickly boot up the game from the HDD without having to chase down the disc.
