[PS3] LittleBigPlanet 2

I don't know what you're complaining about!

I'm a PS+ member and I live 16miles from where they make the flamin game...yet I have no idea even IF there's to be a UK special edition and what it will contain...and all the while I wait these are being sold off when I could get one from a friend!

I'm complaining because Sony business folks seem to have forgotten about PS+ members in major game release like LBP2. Most of the titles PS+ "give away" have already been bought by people. They need new titles or at least new attraction (like tha_con's LBP2 closed beta) to fill up the pipeline.

Limbo recreated in LBP:

Magnificent !

Awwww ! That is so beautiful !!!!!

Is water in for everyone or do you have to buy some map pack for it? Its been a loooooong time since I played any game(GOW3 and Uncharted2 waiting for me, and Oh ! I need to play the third district of Infamous :( !)
Wish my eyes would stop paining from screen useage T_T !

Its for everyone to play, but if you want to make levels out of it then you have to buy the Pirates of the Caribbean pack.

sorry, I wasn't being serious (as such) lol

I just finished it yesterday. It's a fun pack of levels, pretty easy and well designed (you won't get stuck anywhere) but still entertaining, and that makes trying to get the no-dying trophies a little more fun at least. ;)

I definitely wouldn't mind the LBP2 beta to at least open up to PSN+ players first, although I wouldn't necessarily want that to be a requirement - if you limit your beta too people who are willing to sign up for something like PSN+ you may get a skewed audience - MM is probably not going to agree to do something like that lightheartedly, if they do. But perhaps a week earlier, just as a means to open up the beta more gradually, could work really well.

I can finally watch YouTube. It's a noble attempt but I think the creator should port it to LBP2. The improved lighting should give the level a more immersive feel. Is it possible to add fog in LBP2 ? Sackbot is also essential in this level. The use of water is very nice though.

Popped in my LBP disc and guess what, I need to do ELEVEN  updates before I can go online !!!!!!!

I am on the 4th one now, but I keep getting a "DNS error" after around 78 to 80 % of this update !!! I was getting the same error on the first update too and had to retry 4 times before it got done. I am on the third try for this one and there are 6 more to be done :( !
On top of that I am getting measly meagre download speed on the updates. If the error persists , looks like I won't be able to play community levels at all. :( !

Yeah, one of the bigger reasons for a proper sequel I think.

Well, made some changes on my router settings and manually configured the PS3 net settings. If the error pops up even now, I am giving up on this and gifting it to a friend :devilish: !

You could try doing it really early in the morning sometime. I remember I had to do 8 updates last time I hadn't used it a long time or something, but it did work without problems for me.

I'm wondering though - I got the game as a DD gift with my Playstation Plus subscription and played it with that only now, and I can't remember if I had to do any updates - it may well be that this version already has all the updates included. It may be an alternative way for you as well.

Well, the manuals settings worked like a charm, updated effortlessly in one evening which I couldn't do in the last 2 days !
Played community levels after a looong time:) ! Boy, I had fun !

My niece asked for Harry Potter, we found 2 good levels played them. I demanded Kilzone2 , played 2 levels ! Tyen went about played some really beautiful egyptian and water levels !
Is there any other game which can give u whatever u ask for  ! LBP Rocks ! :D

@nightshade: your tree level is really really mesmerizing ! Loved it :) !

The physics seems unchanged, perhaps due to backwards compatibility, but there are tweakable parameters like gravity. I think an update to the physics engine to adapt to quirky situations could fix it without breaking anything else, save maybe some exploits like superjump levels, but I expect sadly to see no change here. Thankfully the many other game possibilities should more than make up for that!

From my understanding they did only minor tweaks in the story mode (probably just designed the levels better) but in create mode you can basically get any type of behavior you like.

Any word on whether they will try to address the often complained about floaty physics?

Floaty physics will stay to support backward compatibility. Essentially, because of the physics-based action and reaction, the gameplay is "open-ended" as per LBP 1.

At the same time, for new levels, the creator can create non-floaty behavior via SackBots and Direct Control. The creator can also adjust the gravity for each level.

Apparently it goes further than just that - for example you can program your own double jump with all the timings tweaked, height tweaked etc, put that on a chip and share it with others.

The term 'floaty' is perhaps a misnomer for the issues of jumping. The physics response to moving platforms and inclined surfaces will be tied to the physics engine and inertia. Changing gravity, jump height, and anything else in that realm won't solve the jump problems people had, although they may reduce them. Perhaps if there was a Sackboy inertia setting, that'd do the job, but the phsyics of collisions were fine and shouldn't change, which reducing inertia would do.

In essence they need to have the jump mechanics adjustable from current mid-air adjustable to Manic-Minor style fixed trajectory, which would allow for all platforming game types.

Aren't most platform games mid-air adjustable these days? Mario, for instance?
