€uro 60GB version, extra space, nicer finish, more AV output options ... and it's actually the only version available at launch (here).

60 GB version. The chrome alone basically " forces" me to buy that version. Otherwise I have to paint it or something.

So much for the complaint that Euros don't get paid much and don't spend as much because of high taxes.

I am going for the full package, the 60GB version. I voted for the first option, but i am in Center America, but the poll didnt have an accurate option for me.

And one of the reasons for choosing the 60gb version is that i personally think that the 20gb version without the chrome finish look cheap.

A huge thank you to all who contributed. While far from scientific or conclusive on a larger scale, its nice to see data for our small sample group. As I had originally anticipated there would be more demand for the 60GB version, simply due to the nature of early adopters in general. However, I also thought there would be a greater percentage of individuals choosing the 20GB model than what the current data shows. I figured somewhere around 30 – 35 percent (as we can see, I was way off). I also see that we have a lot of American and European representation, and even a little from Australia and Japan. Oh, and apparently Central America too! :D

Isn't the 60 GB said to be made more available at launch?

I haven't heard anything official, but I think its commonly assumed that it will be as such. If you happen to come across some news, however, please share.

You should have also added the demand that whoever voted 20gig identify themselves and offer their excuses :devilish:

lol! Yeah, although, it is a public poll so you're free to hunt down each 20Giger with a PM. ;)

I hope Sony presents me a PS3 (60 GB HD version ..please  )

I suspect you'd have to come out of no where and some how make launch for them to do that! :p Hmm... unless maybe you pass this data onto some higher ups, claim it as your own, inflate the sample group, and presto! You saved them cash and time in market research, well worth a 60GB PS3. That is, unless, say, Archie beats you to the punch. :p

My apologies for not having your territory listed. There was actually space enough that I could have added another region. I did not list it mostly out of ignorance, as outside of the regions I listed above, I have no clue which branch of SCE handles distribution for what area, nor have any grasp of their presence in other areas. Care to share what the console situation is like there?

Didn't realize so many people on here were buying ps3's. We need to have to have a PSNP UserID thread when the time comes. Get some 40 man servers going on. :)

60GB version for me (and everyone I know who's getting one)

- HDMI to DVI is much easier to do (for connecting to PC monitors)
- I like to have wireless built in (also for PSP features)
- I certainly think the 40Gb of extra space won't hurt either for downloading all that video and the Linux stuff

Oddly enough, I'm probably the only one who thinks the all black (20gb) version is prettier. I so far way prefer that version's looks. I really like the idea that the PS3 has the same shine as the PSP, which looks great. Quite a step up from the PS2 in that respect. And the new trayless drive together with the wireless controller make me think I will actually have it stand on its side this time, next to the TV.

The real question is *how* to get one. I'm debating pre-ordering from GameStop/EB or probably having to camp out in front of the Playstation store Nov 17th...

Are they still taking pre-orders? I was dead set against getting one until a price drop, but like usual I'm getting the New Console itch.

from the poll results i'm not surprised the majority will be getting the 60GB version of the PS3. i wonder what the mainstream public thinks about the relatively high price of the console.

Actually, EB is not taking preorders yet. As for Playstation, I checked Friday and they will not be doing pre-orders at all -- strictly first come first serve.

Crap. That means all-night lines. Maybe I'll get lucky and stumble across a batch. Since I'm still on the fence about picking one up, I wont vote, but if I do give in to tempation I'll pick up the $600 SKU.

Just to chime in on why I'm aiming for the 60GB.

I got a 360. Unforutnately I'm not the patient type. Despite there being no Premium SKUs available at the local store or their accompanying website I did the stupid thing and got a Core.

Now I feel shortchanged (for all the reasons covered so well in other threads) and still haven't got round to picking up a HDD. And I'm not gonna get on Live! until I've got a HDD.

To sum up: I don't want that feeling with the PS3 (and yes I know they all incl. a HDD).

(PS, this isn't a rant against MS.)

The 60GB, HDMI, Wi-Fi version.
€100 plus isn't that much for a purchase that's going to be my centre of entertainment for the next six years at least.

Besides the Wi-Fi will come in handy with my PSP and I really don't want to draw tens of meters of cable to connect the PS3 which will be in my livingroom to my phoneline ADSL that is in my bedroom and no convenient way to run the cable.
The HDMI will be utilised too from day one, my projector has HDMI and DVI-D connectors and I plan to connect the PS3 to HDMI and my existing DVD player to DVI-D.
60GB of space, I think I'll fill even that up pretty quick.

The cheaper SKU would be crippled for my needs.

Indeed, I will only get the 60 GB version. I'll be using HDMI from day 1 for movies and games. The wifi is also very useful, as mentioned earlier, for the PSP. If they sell out of the $600 version, then I'll just wait until they restock.

What difference? No it wouldn't
Besides, how can it be reduction when nothing has been announced in the first place, all clockspeeds have been just speculation.
There can't be a downgrade, other than a downgrade of funboi specultaions, and that is hardly a concern for Sony or any other company for that matter.

If it performs, what does it matter if the clockspeed is 500 or 550 MHz???

Can we please stop linking to those buillshit Inquirer "articles" that are nothing but trash. There's nothing to back up that claim, as it is, this is just another one of Inquirers campaigns to get more hits. Pathetic.

Not wanting to take this any more off topic, but there were announced specs back in E3 '05 I believe. A quick Google finds this forum post that seems a cut and paste of the official press release
http://forum.lik-sang.com/archive/index.php/t-4694.html
GPU RSX @550MHz 1.8 TFLOPS floating point performance Full HD (up to 1080p) x 2 channels Multi-way programmable parallel floating point shader pipelines
This shoud be taken to a separate thread though (if only this forum weren't written in C++. We ought to be able to spawn new threads automatically. Damned this backwards development of monolithic forums! Parallel forum processing is da future!)
