Yup, only 10 days, they gotta finish before launch-day!

There's a guy beating a drum too in one end of the room with cubicles, and other guys with whips walking up & down the aisles. ;)

10 days of vacation, but on top of that you have m18 days of PTO time which can be used at will by the employee ( sick days, emergencies, etc... ).

Not too bad.

why should a ps3 software engineer know about OSX internals?

Maybe the cell workstation runs OS X. I meen Sony and Apple had many meetings together over the last years, maybe they finaly found a way to work together. That would be super nice, my two fav companies working together. :)

Well it mentions FireWire and MIDI drivers in connection with the Mac OS's... But honestly, who cares? They're just "plusses." There's a chance one can leverage almost any code knowledge into use SOMEwhere... Heh.

OK, for our Brit and Euro friends, 10 Holidays means days like Christmas, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc. What is called in Europe "bank holidays."

"Holiday" in the US does not mean vacation time to go to Disneyland or wherever. Americans don't "go on Holiday." They "go on vacation." And they "get Holidays off."

I've never seen PTO used but that is most likely the vacation or (Euro) Holiday time. Typically, most employers start you off with 10 days (two weeks) of vacation time a year but some will give you more the first year, especially for senior-level positions. Then you accrue more and more the longer you stay with an employer, eventually accruing as much as 20-25 days (4-5 weeks) a year. I know that's more standard in Europe but in the US, they work us like dogs.

:?

I doubt they will even get those days off as software engineers in the very deadline-critical world of console game development. In 2001 I worked probably all but 40 days out of 365, and this particular job wasn't anywhere near as deadline-centric as console gaming must be. What they say you have and what actually is expected of you in a real-world environment are two totally different things.

The OS X plus is intriguing.. I should walk over a find out.. :p

Fairly typical for Sony although the usual is 12 days vacation, 2 floaters and 14 PTO...

What they *didn't* mention were the totally bitchin' employee discounts... :p

What software, the menu? Or is SONY going 1st party?
Check out the mention of DirectX, could Sony be using XNA.
Where's the mention of DirectX? I read it three times and didn't see it.
I couldn't either. I assumed "XML" was being misinterpreted.

Its at the top of the image, its not in the image itself. Whats weird though it didn't show up on the page. I had to move the cursor over the area above the image and highlighting the hidden info.

Just go to Yahoo Hotjobs and select (art, entertainment) for search criteria and you'll see it listed. Highlight the blank section over the image and you'll see what I meen.
